On January 31st, 1980, Kanika Powell was born to her mother Judy Powell Forrest. Her mother recalls her as a spirited, feisty, fun and ambitious child! Despite her life holding so much promise, she was savagely ambushed and gunned down in front of her apartment on August 28th, 2008. Kanika’s death has left her family, friends and the community completely puzzled. Seventeen years later, her case remains unsolved.
