2 Samuel 7-8 show David settled as king, but God reminds him that the kingdom is not built by David’s strength. David wants to build God a house, but God promises to build David a house. Then in chapter 8, David wins victories and rules with justice and righteousness.

The simple truth is this:

What God builds lasts longer than what man builds. Many people want to do something great for God before they first sit still and receive what God has promised to do through them.
