Opening Remarks 2025: Jethro Toro + Charlie Stevens
Berlín, El Salvador is home to one of the world leading Bitcoin Circular Economies. Started in 2023 by two Salvadorans, Gerardo and Evelyn, the project quickly attracted Bitcoiners from around the world to help grow local adoption of this monetary innovation. Two years later, Berlín has over 170 merchants who accept Bitcoin payments. It's been called "the most circular of circular Bitcoin economies" because so many merchants even spend Bitcoin with each other. Charlie Stevens and Jethro Toro were two of the first internationals to move to Berlín in 2023. They cofounded the Economía Bitcoin conference, and they introduced round 2 on November 22, 2025.
