You can't receive with your head.
Receiving just isn't the opposite of giving. It's a process of opening up, allowing in, and being available to the moments, experiences, and people that you want to be in true relationship with. Receiving is a pretty word that get's thrown around sometimes - but in practice is a lot more layered and complex than we usually give it credit for. This episode gets into the nuance, prerequisites, and the benefits of opening up to receive - with reflection questions, tips, and integration support so you can take inventory of your own ability to receiving: where you’re available to it, and what’s still blocking you from allowing it in. In this episode, I chat with you about: What receiving is and the different forms it takes in our lives Why you can’t receive with your head - why it’s a heart centered process of opening up What’s required to receive: the prerequisites to making yourself available How to notice when you’re receiving versus immediately giving back, taking over, or trying to prove your worth The energetics of receiving and why practicing it balances out the tendency to overthink, and the impulse to constantly produce and be the one adding value What receiving has taught me about relationships, intimacy, and intuition - and creating the space to let more in Would truly love to hear how this episode impacts you and your own perspectives and experiences with receiving. Placidus vs. Whole Sign houses: our most-asked astrology question with Hollis MM!
At some point in your astrology journey you’ve wondered: what’s the difference between placidus vs whole sign houses? Which version of my chart is more accurate? Why are there multiple systems? Today I sit down with my astrology and real life bestie, Hollis - for a human centered exploration of this question. We each prioritize different house systems in our own practice, and through collaborating over the last year - expanded how we think about and work with them. Rather than telling you which is better or debating the different systems merits - we explore how each offer meaningful, complimentary insights to your lived experience. Yes, you’ll walk away with a better understanding of the differences of the house systems. But mostly, you’ll gain practical ways to explore them both in your own chart and relationship to astrology - so it can be a tool that keeps helping you understand yourself and your life circumstance. In this chat, we cover: *Why there’s no one “correct” house system *The differences between Whole Sign and Placidus in approachable language *How each system offers a different lens into your life rather than competing truths *How this part of astrology continues to deepen your self awareness, connect you with your intuition, and trust yourself first before any external tool *Ways to get more curious with this aspect of your birth chart and seasonal transits *Practical ways to begin exploring the different systems and parts of your life they illuminate *How our own relationships with astrology have evolved - and how yours can too We’re so excited to hear what this conversation sparks within you, what other questions you have, and one insight that you take about yourself from either system! Julie Lane is the ultimate muse for creating from the messy middle, from the process itself, and not hiding yourself along the way. This chat picks her brain about her creative life, process, and expression of her whole self through life's ups and downs. It will feel like a warm hug and invitation to loosen your grip on certainty, reconnect with your truth, and express more of your humanness. Living in and enjoying the life you’ve built isn’t passive
When is it time to stop building your life, your identity, your work - and start living it? And what does it look like when you stop optimizing, and start living, enjoying, and being in it? A recent roadtrip (including the complete rescheduling of my bachelorette party) showed me what it takes to step into the life you’ve so intentionally created - and live in it embodied, easeful, and joyful. This episode is an exploration of: Why ease often feels uncomfortable and scary at first - especially for the parts of us that want to stay in control Why you get stuck in building, thinking, and striving and how to shift into enjoyment, ease, and living it My intentions for my 2 week roadtrip through California vs. what actually happened (family visits, solo time, bachelorette, and integration included) Why being witnessed and receiving love from your people is vulnerable and what that discomfort is inviting you to lean into around belonging, connection, and letting yourself be known How rescheduling the bachelorette party forced me to get comfortable with uncertainty in relationships What the energetics of self-sufficiency say about shifting into a more easeful season This ones for the builders, the thinkers, the intentional planners that are ready to put that energy down - and fully embrace living what they’ve created. Reflection prompts: integrate this episode What are you still in building mode around - for an experience that's already happening? Where do you feel like you're having to earn the ease, the rest, the joy, the reciprocity? What's one thing you will enjoy this week by shifting out of the doing, the thinking, the optimizing? Daily Practice: add this to your existing journaling or gratitude practice: Pick your desired feeling (ease, joy, flow, whatever it is for you) Write: "I embrace [your word]" - and then note where you let that in today. Even one small moment counts. Option to name an area that you intend to bring that to life the next day Seasonally Committed: 2-week astrological coaching experience where we build the container for your next season together (as validated by your seasonal energetics!) Cyclical living, per the zodiac
Nature works in cycles - and astrology gives you a practical framework for embracing them. We often resist the phases of the cycle that don’t align with our energy, or desire to constantly produce (eternal summer anyone?). But every part of the cycle is valuable, necessary, and connected to what comes next. Seeing that interconnection by understanding the full picture - helps soften resistance so seasonal living can feel more accessible. This episode explores the cycle of energetics and the granularity it offers gives clear direction steps for how to lean into the parts of the cycle of life that you find yourself resisting. Inside this episode: *The zodiac as a system for working with your energy as it changes over time *How the 12-sign cycle forms a meaningful sequence, each phase informing and supporting the next *The elements as the motivating, inspiring force behind each season - and how to tap into them *The modalities as the functional, “how” for leaning into whatever part of the cycle you are in *Why understanding the full cycle reduces resistance and so cyclical living can feel more tangible vs aspirational in your life *How to start working with this through annual and monthly cycles! How to give impactful astrology readings
Knowing astrology and delivering a powerful astrology reading are two different skills. You might have a wealth of astrological knowledge, but readings can easily become overly technical, educational, scattered, or difficult for the client to digest. In this episode, we explore how to make “readings” within energetic disciplines (astrology, Human Design, and beyond) relatable to an audience who doesn’t know your craft - so your clients can internalize, remember, and apply what you share in their lives. Inside this episode, we explore: What constitutes a "good" reading with 3 core components as a guide The different skills you're juggling when offering a session How to put the astrology down and meet someone where they are Reflections to help you define the type of astrologer you want to be, the readings you want to give, and what actually facilitates that The core components of giving impactful readings: Language: translating terminology into relatable human language, themes, and narrative Structure: creating a grounding anchor for yourself and the client so the conversation can flow naturally (instead of gripping tightly to scripts or placements) Dialogue: drawing out context and personal story from your client’s real life and weaving it together with the astrology Trust and practice underpin this entire process, so you can move beyond chart regurgitation and into resonant readings that have lasting impact. The Mentorship: For support in translating your craft into conversation, you can apply for my Astrology Mentorship! This collaborative, private experience is customizable depending on your current skillset and goals. Alongside developing the three core components we discuss in this episode, we also focus on inner embodiment of your role as an astrologer, and the external messaging that supports booking readings and sharing your gift with your community!
