Double Shift Podcast: Duh Nell Hates Summer

Duh Nell. HATES. Summer. Well, not really...she just hates the Sports of Summer. Basketball, Baseball, Soccer... Well...now she likes soccer, at least for the big soccer thingy that they do every four years. But the team she started going for is out. So she hates it again. But Geoff and Mikey don't hate these sports. So we talk about some of the best sports games to have ever existed! Well...maybe not the best. Mostly wacky. Sometimes fun. Sometimes annoying. But games, nonetheless. We also talk about America's favorite summer activity! Playing arcade soccer in France...after getting all of the McDonald's in the area. Oh, Duh Nell also hates puffed corn snax...so we talk about that too.

Double Shift Podcast: Six String Protagonist

Today we will be talking about Guitar Heroes. But not Guitar Hero. Or Rock Band for that matter...well...maybe... But more so, heroes with guitars. Or just video game characters with guitars...doesn't have to be a hero. Could be a villain, or a movie star, or a dog. It could even be a Beatle...or multiple Beatles. We might even stamp our passport and head across the pond to get some Snax. Because every roadie in the world is from there (we assume). And mostly...we will just talk about the guitars themselves. We swear we won't get distracted. We swear a lot, I guess...but that's mostly Geoff in the background... And lastly...we will NOT talk about Arm Cannons...

Double Shift Podcast: Super Fan Contest Winner - Bran Bon

It's the SUPER FAN CONTEST WINNER EPISODE! So...we didn't actually hold a contest, but Super fan Bran Bon tricked Mikey into thinking that we did hold a contest, and that he won. His prize would be that he appears on the show and talks about his extensive home arcade collection. I mean, he's a real nerd when it comes to this stuff...and it's awesome. Mikey, not wanting to be embarrassed, pretended that he totally knew about the contest and took full credit for the excellent idea. So, we made it happen! And he doesn't just talk arcade machines. He's also a pinball warlock (We don't want to get sued), he ALSO likes SNAX and he knows a thing or two about what will fit and won't what fit in various trunk sizes, when trying to offload said arcade machines. So come hang out with us as we learn about The coolest Arcade that you never went to! Unless you did...

Double Shift Podcast: Thrillhouse

Today we will talk about The Simpson's Video Games. Not actual real Video Games about The Simpsons that you or I can play in real life. Rather, the games that The Simpsons and the other residents of Springfield play. Game designers in the town of Springfield have the best job. They basically just say "It would be cool to make a game where you are a looter" or "what if there was a fighting game where parents fought each other at kids sporting games?" And who didn't want to "Just enter their name" into Bonestorm! Entering your name is Bonestorm alone is way more fun than a dumb old golf game (but you should play it anyways, since your mom got it for you for Christmas). And we'll talk about Simpsons Cereal...a little...barely remember it to be honest. So, break out the Dash Dingo game while you're home sick from school and hope you don't "Get Texas" and enjoy hearing us talk about a bunch of Video Games that don't even exist (but should)!

Double Shift Podcast: Dos You Even Dos, Bruh?

This week, we will talk about Dos games. We want to give you a synopsis of the episode, but we can't. You see...Dos games always required the user to answer a question, from a book that came with the game, in order to launch it. We have a similar book for our podcast, with all of the rules and hints and stuff like that. But we just can't find it... If we could find it, then we could tell you about some of the great games we will be talking about. Games about Kings and the various Quests that they go on. Games about Dungeons. Games about Dragons. Or games about Dungeons with no Dragons, despite the word Dragons being in the title. We would also tell you about Roger Rabbit and how sad we got when he didn't save the day. We could crack a tube of Peanuts and play some cards and reminisce about Lode Runner. We could tell you all about that stuff, IF we could just find that darn guidebook. Oh well...guess you'll just have to listen and be surprised about what we'll talk about this week...

Double Shift Podcast: The Last Best Era Pt. 3 - Fun Box

We're finally here. The end of the Last Best Era. With probably the best console in The Last Best Era. The Nintendo Gamecube. That's not to say that the Gamecube is the last best console...it might not even be the best Nintendo Console, let alone the last best one. Categorizing your memories can be confusing, and sometimes painful... BUT FEAR NOT! We will be talking all things Cube today. How they were so cheap that you could casually pick one up at the counter, last minute, like you would a candy bar. We'll talk about some of the most iconic games of all time. Mikey will make a promise to NEVER badmouth a first party Nintendo game ever again on this podcast. Let's see how long he can keep that promise. We'll also talk about food...and that get's confusing too...but we sort it out...we think. And don't worry...we know that we talk about old stuff a lot, but after this episode, we'll go back to talking about...(checks notes on next weeks episode...) Well, we'll be talking about Video Games...just a little bit...

This week on part two of "The Last Best Era" we talk about PS2. The Champion of the three consoles. This best seller gave us some bangers, too many to talk about in one episode. And Mikey wasted time by talking about GTA again, even though he said he wouldn't. That's fine...because we also talk about Burritos, exploiting the hard working people at Blockbuster Video and games, games, games! Gamefly may have to send their goons after us to collect their credit payment after they hear this episode (we never did find that Dead 2 Rights disc...)

Riddle me this...What is green, bounces, has weird scoring and says "WHOOOOOO"? If you said an owl playing tennis, you'd be wrong, but we'd understand why you said that. The answer is...well nothing really. It's all just descriptors for the game of Tennis. The beautiful game (oh wait that's soccer), America's Pastime (shoot...baseball). We don't know what Tennis is referred to as, but we do know that we love the video games. From playing Virtua Tennis in arcades while listening to local bands to angrily uninstalling Mario Tennis because it's too dang hard, we cover it all. Well, not all...just some (there's a ton of Tennis games out there). We also talk about crazy chickens and John Daly for some reason. So tune in, tone up and TURN DOWN THAT RACKET!

Fond not really being a part of the equation? Well today we're talking about those old electronic handheld video games! We have memories of them, that's for sure. We also think, maybe some people didn't even buy them, but they just magically appear in houses all across the country. I mean some of them are cool. Re-imagined classics, cool box art and hell...some of them even have clocks. Even though Danelle seems to hate clocks. But most of them are just...there. They exist. And we remember. But maybe not fondly. Oh and we talk about candy. And how candy might be alive...tune in!
