In May 2008, 19-year-old Brandon Swanson called his parents after his car went into a ditch on a dark rural road in Minnesota. He told them he was okay and stayed on the phone while walking through fields toward what he believed was a nearby town. For nearly 47 minutes, his parents listened as he moved through the darkness. Then Brandon suddenly said, “Oh, shit,” and the call went silent. He was never seen again.
