It's splatter time! We're talkin' the energetically fun & frightening Italian gore galore with Lamberto Bava's terror at the Metropol. This is NOT the 1985 Doc and Marty were hoping for. But us horror hounds are here for it! Kick-ass practical effects, entertaining characters & kills combine with a mysterious plot born from metal in more ways than one to make for an essential Mediterranean movie night. Plenty of Italian horror history within this ep folks! Enjoy!
We just couldn't help ourselves this week! Much love for Phantom of the Opera as depicted over the past century plus, and even more admiration for Hammer films in general. This week's episode is a little longer. We said we weren't going to go into comparing the different films and stage productions to the Gaston Leroux novel, but yeah . . .we did! Some great Hammer alum throughout this one that is light on kills but still fun. Enjoy (and leave those rats alone!)
Hey DFM fam! We kick off the first Friday in April with what many have called The black sheep of werewolf films. Well, we'd like to speak to the manager about that assessment! Is this really a werewolf film? There are some obvious nods to that subgenre, but Wolfen has unique native lore we dig. Given the history of the filmmakers it is no surprise that there is visual appeal with this urban decay/police procedural/horror-thriller mashup. And that cast!
