Crooner's Corner by Charles Williams

Episode notes

Portland hip-hop artist Ms. Elle stopped by the Crooner's Corner to talk about her latest EP Culture and her new radio show Ladies to the Mic. Elle filled us in on what it's like to be a female rapper in Portland and how a major high school injury changed her musical trajectory. Though we discuss two of Elle's influences, Noname and Anderson Paak, she confesses that Mariah Carey remains her ultimate singing idol. We dish about the Trailblazers, our favorite teachers, and awkward run-ins with celebrities. Marly shares a traumatic experience with an eighth grade music teacher. Once again, we spend too much time talking about our dads. Tune in to Elle's radio show every Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 pm on 99.1 and check out her album Culture on Bandcamp.
