Compassion In Care

by Tarita
Season 1
Episode 2 Intro
In Episode 2 of Compassion in Care, Tarita explores an important truth many families wish had been explained sooner: dementia is more than memory loss. This episode discusses the changes families and caregivers often notice in communication, behavior, emotions, judgment, and daily functioning long before they know how to name what is happening. Tarita offers a grounded and honest conversation about why dementia can be confusing, emotional, and overwhelming for those walking alongside a loved one. If you have ever felt that something was changing but did not know how to explain it, this episode is for you. Compassion in Care is a space for real conversations on aging, dementia, caregiving, and the questions too many people carry in silence.
Episode 1: Welcome to Compassion in Care
Welcome to the very first episode of Compassion in Care. In this episode, I’m introducing myself, sharing why I created this podcast, and opening the door to the kinds of honest conversations we’ll be having here. This space was created for families, caregivers, professionals, and anyone trying to make sense of aging, dementia, assisted living, higher levels of care, and the real journey of caring for someone you love. This is not a polished, buttoned-up space. This is a real one. We’ll be talking about the emotional side of caregiving, the hard decisions families face, the realities of health changes and transitions in care, and the things people often carry in silence. My goal is to create a space that is educational, supportive, relatable, and honest. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, unsure, exhausted, emotional, or alone in this journey, this space is for you. In this episode, we talk about: Why I created Compassion in Care My background in senior living and caregiving support Who this podcast is for The real topics we’ll be discussing Why honest, down-to-earth conversations around care matter Topics coming in future episodes: Dementia and behavior changes Caregiving, grief, guilt, and exhaustion Assisted living and higher levels of care Caring for loved ones at home Working with outside providers and caregivers Health changes, increased acuity, and transitions Dignity, intimacy, senior sexual health, and whole-person care Financial, cultural, and religious barriers in caregiving and decision-making Thank you for being here for the beginning of this journey. I’m looking forward to building this space together.
