In Chapters 24–34, Elizabeth visits Hunsford to stay with Charlotte and Mr. Collins and meets the imposing Lady Catherine de Bourgh at Rosings Park. Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam arrive as guests, leading to a series of visits and conversations that build tension and misunderstanding. All of this leads up to Darcy’s famous first proposal, in which he declares his feelings but insults Elizabeth’s family at the same time.
