A'mir Sears Just Showed You How Much Miami Changed

Two touchdowns and three interceptions on ESPN2 against one of the two or three best high school teams in America. A'mir Sears is from Broward, he plays at Miami Columbus, and he is going to the University of Miami — he reclassified a full year early, skipped his senior season, just to get here faster. Columbus 33, Bishop Gorman 28. Fifteen years ago that kid is at Alabama, or Ohio State, or LSU, and we're watching him do it in somebody else's uniform. Patrick Peterson went to LSU. Amari Cooper went to Alabama. Teddy Bridgewater committed to Miami and then went to Louisville. Lamar Jackson went to Louisville and won a Heisman. Calvin Ridley, Jerry Jeudy, Patrick Surtain — Alabama. Both Bosa brothers — Ohio State. Dalvin Cook went to Florida State. Jeremiah Smith, the number one recruit in America, went to Ohio State and won a national championship as a freshman. So I sat outside and recorded this one, because it isn't an analysis video. It's a list. I went back to December 6th, 2021 — the day Mario Cristobal was hired — and pulled every single thing we were genuinely afraid of back then, and put it next to what we're actually arguing about in August of 2026. Four and a half years ago, Kirk Herbstreit said on College GameDay that it did not matter who Miami hired, because the school itself was the problem. Miami's Opener Is Against The Strangest Team In College Football

Ten months ago Miami beat Stanford 42-7. Almost everything you remember about that night is the number 42. Here's what actually happened: Stanford took the opening drive down the field and scored. Miami didn't tie it until the last minute of the second quarter, and the crowd booed the offense off at the half. It was 7-7. Miami then won the second half 35-0 and Stanford managed three first downs — the Hurricanes were enormously better, and that's the real story of the game. But "tied at halftime" and "over by halftime" are two very different memories, and most of us are carrying the wrong one. And that team doesn't exist anymore. New head coach. New offensive coordinator. New defensive coordinator. New quarterback. And a roster built on a strategy that no other Power 4 program in the country is running. Stanford general manager Andrew Luck said it out loud in April: their aim was to be "on the lower side of the continuum of players in and players out via the portal," and that high school recruiting would be "our bread and butter." So I checked whether he actually did it — and I pulled the incoming transfer count for all 68 Power 4 programs to find out. The Power 4 average is 24. Stanford signed 6. Nobody in the Power 4 signed fewer. Former Canes WR Cam Vaughn Is Suing Miami. Here's What's Actually Happening.

Cam Vaughn never played a single snap for Miami. He transferred in from West Virginia in January with real production behind him — 83 catches and over 1,300 yards across two seasons at Jacksonville State and WVU. He slid down the depth chart, got arrested for reckless driving in Georgia in July, and on August 17th Mario Cristobal went on the Joe Rose Show and said nine words: "Cam Vaughn has been dismissed from the team." And that same day, Miami pulled his scholarship. Eight days later, Vaughn sued the University of Miami and the NCAA. Here's the part almost nobody covering this gets right: the transfer portal isn't even open right now. College football moved to a single window this year — two weeks in January, and that's it. So what exactly is Miami stopping him from doing? The answer is the whole video. A player cannot put himself in the transfer portal. There is no login for him. He has to ask his own school, and his own school has to be the one that presses the button. When the portal is open, they don't get a choice. When it's closed — like right now — somebody has to go file for an exception, and the school is the only one who can do it. Vaughn's side says Miami won't. Miami's Jersey Is Worth $15 Million. Who Will Buy It?

On August 1st, for the first time in the history of college football, schools were allowed to sell advertising space on the front of the jersey. A square four inches in size. Two inches by two. Ohio State sold theirs to JPMorgan Chase for about $17 million a year. Notre Dame sold theirs to SoFi for $18–20 million a year on a six-year deal. Illinois got $6 million from a regional bank. Air Force got $2 million. Wyoming got $4.5 million over five years from a natural gas pipeline company. Miami — the 12th-highest-revenue athletic department in America, the 3rd richest private athletic department in the country behind only Notre Dame and USC, eight months removed from playing for a national championship — has sold nothing. The entire ACC has exactly one jersey patch deal. It belongs to Cal. In this video I break down what the rule actually allows, every dollar the market has already paid, what Miami's square is genuinely worth (and why the lazy version of that math lands way too low), the reason Notre Dame gets paid more than Ohio State despite drawing 26% fewer fans, what Miami actually delivered on television last season — including the one number that argues against everything else in this video — and why the jersey is the only piece of premium inventory this university fully controls.
