35 - Enrique's Journey
Explicit
Browsing the shelves of the local library, skimming hundreds of titles, I had about fifteen minutes before the library closed to try to find a book. After a few minutes, I started to think I wouldn’t be able to find a book today, and was starting to question what made me think it was a good idea to arrive at the library so late, when a title immediately caught my attention: Enrique’s Journey. The book I read was the young adult version adaptation of the original book written by Sonia Nazario where she tells the story of Enrique, a teenage boy who makes the incredulous journey from his home in Honduras to reach America to reunite with his mother. In this episode, I go over the book and share some of Enrique’s life that occurred well after its publication. – Trigger Warnings: Drug abuse, physical assault, mention of SA – Video of the segment the family was on Don Francisco Presenta https://enriquesjourney.com/don-francisco-presenta/ Visit enriquesjourney.com for more information. – Follow the podcast on Instagram at @cafewithstrangers for updates and more.
