Jesus Is Buried

Bible Readings: John 19:38-42

Summary: Paul explained that we were buried with Jesus

through baptism into death. First, Paul said: We are buried

with him, and then he continues through baptism into death.

There is an important thing to see here. When you are

baptized in a person, in this instance Jesus, you are under His

authority. The same happened to us. At first, we were slaves

of sin, fear, anxiety, and death, but we are now buried with

Jesus, we are alive, and under His authority. This is what it

means to be buried with Him through baptism. We are under

the authority of Jesus, and sin has no longer control over us.

And if we have been united with Him in His death, we are

also united with Him in His resurrection.
