The Boys from the Bronx is the true story of 11-year-old boys from the East Bronx
who started a sports club in 1938 and remained friends for a lifetime.
Synthesizing information from their letters written during and after the war, and
through videotaped interviews, Eric Reisman, son of founding group member
Bernie Reisman, recounts the story of the Trojans’ brotherly love. Bernie was the
founder of two programs at Brandeis University: the Hornstein Jewish Leadership
Program and the BOLLI Adult Learning Institute.
Eric, a retired Special Educator, is a first-time author who wanted to memorialize
this amazing group and explore the influences that shaped their long-lasting
