The crew has arrived on the Isle of Rolegur, the larger of the two islands in Lake Syng east of Eihwaz. According to Master Arcanist Helena Brohm, something strange has been happening to the isles' guardian, the Verndhjarta. He is being uncommonly vicious to people. Helena and her fellow arcanists are concerned that something has happened to the Eihwaz Tree, which the Verndhjarta is connected to and defends with his life. It's up to the crew to collect water and samples from the lake, check on the great stag, and report to Helena. That is, if the megafauna and flora don't eat them first.
