Numbers 14:1 - 15:41
- The Israelites grumble and rebel after the spies' fearful report, weeping all night and desiring to return to Egypt; Moses and Aaron intercede as God threatens to destroy the people for their unbelief.
- God pardons them but decrees the rebellious generation (20 years and older) will die in the wilderness over 40 years; laws on offerings and fringes are given, and a presumptuous unauthorized invasion attempt fails.
