818 & Conversate - The Podcast: Episode 11. Chaos, Coordination & Chemistry w/ Janeille Patrice of JP&Co Events

    Explicit

In this very special birthday-edition episode dropping on Nadine's birthday, host (driver) Nadine of 818 Events sits down with Janeille Patrice of JP & Co Events to focus on the art of event planning. Janeille is a fellow event coordinator that specializes particularly in Event Design, and making things magical. And for those that don't already know, Nadine is an event and wedding coordinator and founder of 818 Events. Janeille and Nadine go way back. What started out as an interest in planning music and entertainment events many years ago, has turned into a side hustle and shared passion for curating a client's most memorable experience for both ladies. Nadine wanted to share this birthday episode with a fellow event planner since her whole brand is based on her birthday, August 18th, hence the 818, and she wanted to do a deep dive into the world of events and wedding coordination. As a result, this episode is called 'Chaos, Coordination & Chemistry', and it focuses on the behind the scenes of the wedding and event industry - everything from the chaotic client drama, mishaps and sore feet, and trusting the process, to tips and tricks for event planning, why you MUST hire a planner, and how meeting new clients is like an awkward first date. While you'd think an episode hosted by two professionals that practice making moments as close to perfect as possible would be flawless, it's actually the first episode with a compilation of technical difficulties - Janeille got a little carried away with her laughter and choked on her wine, (note to self, don't drink wine and laugh), the audio didn't quite record as planned and for the first time, the episode had to be edited with a cut. However, it's an episode for the books. Some serious tea was spilled on this episode. A whole lot of honesty and transparency. Nadine and Janeille share all the dos and donts of event and wedding planning, so be sure to take notes. While they sip on white wine, celebrate their successes and toast to Nadine's birthday, they give each other their flowers, share lots of laughter and even some sass. This episode is for anyone who plans events; is an entrepreneur; is getting married; used an event planner (especially us) and highly recommends it; or someone who just wants to laugh. Listen to them unpack all the chaos behind coordinating events, and what it means to have chemistry with your event planner. 818 & Conversate - The Podcast: Episode 10. got growth? alongside Toronto Plant Girl

    Explicit

In this episode, host (driver) Nadine of 818 Events is joined by Julia, more commonly known as 'Toronto Plant Girl'. Julia is a Plant Doctor. I'd call her a Plant Whisperer. The episode is called 'got growth?'. Julia (and her mom) invited me into her home (and garden) to sit down and discuss all things growth - our plants, our businesses and ourselves. Surrounded by beautiful plant babies, Julia opens up to me about what made her fall in love with plants in the first place. She ALMOST spills the tea on her fancy clientele (but not quite). And she tells us what an average work day for her feels like, which you can also capture in one of her vlogs on her Instagram page @torontoplant.girl. We connect on the loss of a loved one, pouring hurt into passion, and then share laughter over Instagram clapbacks, boyfriends that don't like plants, unrealistic client requests and people who call her job 'easy'. We even had her mom along in the background for the ride! Julia has found joy and peace in plants. It's been a part of her overall growth as a woman finding more simplicity and a sense of calm. But even more than that, Julia founded a business and it's flourishing! She guides clients from consultation, to install, to care and maintenance, and then sometimes, saving plant babies on the verge of death. Julia gives credit to Betsy, from Episode 6, who was part of the push for her to take her passion to a platform and share it with the world. She also shouts out her very supportive brother, family and friends for their convincing encouragement. While we sip on iced coffees, we connected. Toronto Plant Girl takes a moment to reflect on her growth - much deserved. She also validates me as a 'plant mom'. That's all the validation I need! Then she gifted me an oversized Toronto Plant Girl-grown Zucchini. This episode is for anyone who doubts their passion can have a purpose; who finds peace and comfort in the simple things; who has grown and evolved; entrepreneurs that need some inspo; people who love plants; and anyone who likes a good laugh. Listen to us unpack growth. 818 & Conversate - The Podcast: Episode 8. Me Versus Me alongside Miguel Pink of Me Versus Me Mentality

    Explicit

In this episode, host (driver) Nadine of 818 Events is joined by Miguel Pink aka. Migz Papi aka. Coach Miguel aka. #MoveWithMigz of #MeVersusMeMentality. We explore the Me Versus Me mindset and ever-growing community that has formed surrounding Miguel in the last year and a half. The main message? We all start somewhere. "Fall down 7 times, stand up 8" - ironically is the most appropriate quote for episode 8. Nadine has been doing boxing workouts with Miguel and has taken a person dive into the Me Versus Me mentality - it's not something to overlook. On this episode, Miguel shares a little about his past lifestyle, and how he got from there to here. He reminds listeners to trust the process. He's formed an entire Me Versus Me community of like-minded individuals who are determined to push themselves always a bit more than they did the day before. He tells us about his journey, his losses (impressive ones), and his wins (also impressive), as well as what it means to "get your 30 in"! We also explored what it means to maintain the mindset of knowing it's you versus you, but also the benefits of having a solid community behind you to get your ass in gear when the going gets tough. With that being said, this episode focuses on taking a cold hard look at what you're pursuing, knowing it's on YOU, and you alone, to achieve it, and overcoming the obstacles and excuses preventing you from doing so. Miguel and Nadine even expose that they do some serious self-talk when they feel themselves slipping. Hop in the whip with us! Join the ride, the run, the convo - and everything in between!
