Hercules must perform 12 tasks in order to make up for the mistakes he has committed. One of them is to defeat the monster Hydra that lives in the Lake Lerna.

Hydra is a giant snake with 9 heads and a body that is 20 times larger than a human. When Hercules and Hydra were in a fierce battle, Hydra’s good friend Cancer also joined the battle, using his huge claws to clamp Hercules' feet. Hercules was so painful that he raised the stick and smashed the Cancer fiercely. Hydra lost to Hercules in the end.

Hera, the queen of heaven, sympathized with Cancer’s loyalty, and took him to the sky to become Cancer.
