WORKPLACE FATIGUE Episode 8 tells a tale of a tragic road rage story, the complexity of fatigue, shift work, and high performance versus coping. The over-productive worker and those who approach burn-out are examined. Fatigue can seem invisible, so how do we examine the symptoms when we work from anywhere? Ultimate, we ask: are we designing for what we WANT or what we DO NOT want? For more discussion about occupational psychosocial injury, tune in to Episode 11 and Episode 12.

MENTAL HEALTH AND WORKING ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE Episode 7 discusses health in the built environment, from the office space to the home space. The air that I breath and the water that I drink: how is this ensured in the home working environment? What about the potential risk of exposure to domestic violence? Listeners must consider whether they provide ‘first aid’ at work or just engage in better conversations with the workforce, and who are their ready-to-deploy teams of specialised advisors. For more discussion about work-from-anywhere, listen also to Episode 3 and Episode 5. For more discussion about workplace engagement, listen also to Episode 6. WE EXPLORE HOW TO CONNECT, CONSULT, AND ENGAGE WITH WORKERS Episode 6 discusses candor at work and how to be real. We encourage employers to discuss the messy realities of work. Candor is a two-way street and effective pathways are needed to discuss ‘what’s what’ in a frank and open manner. We encourage businesses to create scenarios to ‘imaginate’ while you ‘simulate’ the realities of work and use this to launch quality, candid conversations. In so doing, we invite listeners to design work for health, wellness, wellbeing, and ‘wholeness’.

S01 E05: Kozarov and the need for purpose

WHEN WORK EXPOSES YOU TO THE DARK SIDE OF LIFE WARNING: This episode discusses vicarious trauma arising from exposure to circumstances involving children - we advise listener discretion. Episode 5 challenges listeners to think about highly confronting scenarios. We caution that the episode discusses suicide and exposure to horrific scenarios, like child pornography and abuse. This is addressed because this is a reality of work for many people, including those who must analyse the complex nature of these life events and grapple with how the legal circumstances are treated. But what is the impact of this vicarious trauma? For some, the exposures threaten life quality or they cause loss of life. For more discussion about work-from-anywhere, listen also to Episode 3 and Episode 7.

S01 E04: Stilettos, rock concerts, and tales of the unexpected

Esplicito
VOLUNTARY ACCEPTANCE OF RISK AT WORK Episode 4 explores voluntarily acceptances of risk. Does your employer specify, “Don’t have rigorous sex while travelling for work?”, or “Please do not wear stilettos else risk a fall”. Are we alert or should we be alarmed? From work parties, travel, to rock concerts, this discussion challenges the degree of the preparation can be undertaken when work suddenly changes in place and space to consider all the variabilities. For more discussion about workplace travel and sex, listen to Episode 2 »

S01 E03: There are fleas all over it

Esplicito
Episode 3 examines the work-from-home phenomenon and the ambiguity around what is permissible for home luxuries and work requirements. “There are fleas all over it”, says Alan, when considering what to do with the dog at home, the boundaries of work and home life, and the freedoms coupled with the confusion during a changing world of work.

S01 E02: Avatars, bees, and sex

Esplicito
Episode 2 stirs up the hornet’s nest and discusses the busy, busy, bee-siness of work travel, sex, bee stings (unrelated), and the avatars that we choose to represent ourselves in our workplace chat rooms. Injuries can occur in the most unusual ways… Listen to this episode to learn about compensation pathways when things go awry during work travel or when work-from-anywhere is your norm.

S01 E01: Bubbles of trouble

WHEN A WORKPLACE PARTY GETS A LITTLE SLIPPERY... Episode 1 invites listeners to consider what happens when a celebration like a Christmas party or social gathering goes seriously wrong. There can be blurred lines, drinking, nudity, giggles, and the assumptions that everyone in the team wants to party in the same way when that just might not be the case! Listen to what happens when your work party devolves and what might be done to protect against such circumstances. “She poured it on…”, says Alan. “It all got a little sudsy…”, says Sara, and “Let’s get this party started!”. “Was she planking?” asked Trajce. There is little to be left to the imagination in this episode.
