What in the Heck is Lemuria?

Lemuria was supposed to explain why lemur fossils showed up in India and Madagascar—but instead, it exploded into one of the weirdest fake history stories of all time.

In this episode of Waywut, Darrell walks Jason through the bizarre evolution of Lemuria—a totally imaginary sunken continent that somehow became the foundation for spiritual cults, crystal-based religions, and 15-foot-tall egg-born super beings who allegedly live under Mount Shasta.

We’re talking:

• 1800s scientists making wild guesses with zero evidence
• Theosophy and the “Root Races” theory that merged fake science with mystical racism
• The Lemurian Fellowship, a real group that taught psychic powers and cosmic karma
• Channeling spirits, astral projection, and sideways vision as divine communication
• Secret tunnel cities made of crystal, fur carpets, and golden temples
• How Lemuria got hijacked by grifters, gurus, and New Age influencers for money and power

It’s Atlantis meets pyramid schemes—with robes, portals, and a guy literally named “Leadbeater.”

Whether you’re here for lost civilization conspiracies, metaphysical madness, or just want to hear Jason slowly lose his grip on reality—this is classic Waywut.
