Who Are You? | Exodus 3–6

Who is the LORD? Moses and Pharaoh both ask that question—but they ask it in very different ways. Moses asks because he wants to know the God who is sending him. Pharaoh asks in defiance: “Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice?” The unfolding story of the Exodus is God’s answer. In this message from Exodus 3–6, we explore the name God reveals to Moses—“I AM”—and what the Exodus teaches us about his character. He is holy, self-sufficient, faithful to his covenant, supreme over creation and every earthly power, severe in justice, and abounding in compassion. Redemption does not ultimately depend upon Moses’ ability, faithfulness, or power. It is centered in who God is and what God has promised to do. That same truth leads us to Jesus, in whom “we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses” (Ephesians 1:7). Scripture passages: Exodus 3:1–15; 4:11; 5:1–2; 6:2–8; 12:12; 15:1–3; 34:6–7; Ephesians 1:7 This message is Week 3 of The Way Out, Part 1 of our series through the Book of Exodus. Who Am I? Moses’ Identity Crisis | Exodus 2–3 | The Way Out

Who are you when your past, your failures, and other people’s labels pull you in different directions? By the time Moses encounters God at the burning bush, he has lived under many identities: condemned Hebrew infant, Pharaoh’s daughter’s son, member of the Egyptian royal household, fugitive, husband, father, shepherd, and failed would-be deliverer. So when God calls him to lead Israel out of Egypt, Moses asks a deeply personal question: “Who am I?” God does not respond by telling Moses to look within himself, believe in himself, or remember how special he is. He answers, “I will be with you.” In this message, Pastor Adam Young explores Moses’s birth, failure, years in Midian, and encounter with God. We discover that our past may explain us, other people may label us, and our failures may haunt us—but none of them gets the final word. The God who calls us, claims us, and goes with us does. God Has Not Forgotten | Exodus 1–2 | The Way Out, Week 1

When God seems absent and his people feel forgotten, Exodus reminds us that God sees their suffering, hears their cries, remembers his covenant, and knows. In this opening message from Exodus: The Way Out, Pastor Adam Young traces the story from God’s promises to Abraham through Joseph and Israel’s enslavement in Egypt. Along the way, we discover why Exodus is so important to the biblical story—and why it is not merely an account of what God did long ago. It reveals what God does: he frees his people, forms his people, and brings them into his presence. Even when circumstances seem to contradict God’s promises, God has not forgotten. You are seen. You are known. You are loved. Scattered But Sent | Acts 8

In Acts 8:1–25, we see God use persecution, scattering, and unexpected people to move the gospel into new places and new hearts. What looked like a setback for the early church became a powerful catalyst for God’s mission. This message explores how God often uses difficult seasons, disrupted plans, and unlikely messengers to accomplish His purposes — and challenges us to consider whether we’re fully surrendered to Jesus or trying to control the terms of our faith. From Philip’s ministry in Samaria to the story of Simon the magician, this passage reminds us that the gospel is not about power, control, or convenience — it’s about wholehearted devotion to Jesus and participation in His expanding kingdom. Key themes: • God’s purpose in hardship and disruption • The spread of the gospel beyond Jerusalem • Authentic faith vs. transactional faith • Surrendering all of life to Jesus 📍 Passage: Acts 8:1–25 📖 Series: Acts — A New Message to New Places ⛪ Church: Valley Life Church (Winter Park, CO)
