Our God is a God who separates, who says: Be holy as I am holy. HIs way is that we must always choose between right and wrong. This is freewill.

If we are ignorant of God's commands or we do something without knowing it is wrong in God's eyes, when we know it, we have a way to forgiveness by being sorry, asking God's forgiveness and, because of Jesus, the ransom of his life paid for us, we are forgiven and in our continuing life, we show we are sorry by a reformed life. We can know our wrong doing without being told, by our conscience which is God given which gives warning if we stay soft hearted to hear that warning. With repetition of ignoring such awareness of wrong, our hearts become calloused and we do not notice the warning any more.
