Thoughts of a Recovering Overthinker

It's not easy to overcome overthinking. This episode is all about how I feel about the destructive pattern that is overthinking and how I've been dealing with it.

The Call of God on Your Life Will Bring Isolation - Why I Have Trouble Being Honest

1/2: I have trouble being honest about the choices I am making in my life because what God is doing for me may not be understood by all. So for now I may give people the answers they want to hear or an answer I know isn't the 100% truth to protect the process and my overall well-being. 2/2: We know that God is always working for our good but why does our elevation call for isolation? Sometimes the call of God on your life will cause you to be alone while He works on you. He developing you in the secret place.

Why I Started Unsaid Words:

In this episode of Unsaid Words, I take a step back and reflect on the journey that led me to create this podcast. I talk about how the idea for the show started as a long list of topics I had written down, but it took a lot of time (and a lot of doubt) to actually turn it into something real. I share the struggles I faced, from not knowing where to start or what to name the podcast, to dealing with the fear of no one wanting to hear what I had to say. I also dive into the personal moments that finally pushed me to go for itIt wasn’t an easy or quick process, and there were lots of ups and downs, but I talk about how I’ve grown since that first upload and how this podcast has become more than just a project—it’s become something that really reflects me and my journey. This episode is for anyone who has ever felt voiceless or unsure of themselves, or for anyone who's been afraid to take the leap. I’m so grateful for everyone who’s listened and supported me along the way, and I’m proud of how far Unsaid Words has come. Thanks for being a part of this with me!

The Tiers of You:

In this episode of Unsaid Words, I talk about emotional availability and the importance of not giving all parts of myself to others, especially when it comes to relationships. I share how, in the past, I often overgave emotionally in friendships, offering more than I was receiving. Through this, I learned that not everyone deserves the same level of access to me. I explain the concept of "tiers" of relationships (surface-level, intentional, and intimate) and how these levels are earned over time through trust, consistency, and kindness. I encourage listeners to set healthy boundaries, be intentional with their emotional energy, and understand that not everyone should have VIP access to their lives.

There's flaws in everything real.

Most times we hesitate to start things because they aren't yet perfect. However, we have to reframe this mindset. Nothing authentic will be without flaw; there's flaws in everything real. Whatever you want to do don't wait for perfection or compare your journey to someone else's. "Start now, and tweak the little things later!"

I changed myself for others.

In this episode of Unsaid Words, I open up about my personal journey of self-discovery and the consequences of changing myself to fit in. The episode, titled "I Changed Myself for Others," dives deep into my struggles with people-pleasing and conforming to societal expectations, especially during my school years. I share how my need for belonging led me to adopt behaviors and attitudes that didn’t align with my true self, resulting in insecurity and regret. Reflecting on this period, I emphasize the importance of staying true to who I am and making changes for personal growth, not for external validation. With a message of self-empowerment, I encourage you to embrace your authentic self, even if it means facing solitude to rediscover who you really are.

Overcoming Discouragement

In today’s episode, I’m talking all about how I overcome discouragement, especially when I’m feeling worn out or unmotivated. I share my own struggles with imposter syndrome and the lies that creep into my mind. But despite those feelings, I keep showing up, because I know that action is the key to pushing past discouragement. I’m calling on you to do the same: act against those negative feelings, fight back against self-doubt, and stay consistent even when motivation is nowhere to be found. Whatever you’re dealing with discipline over motivation is what will lead to real success. Key Takeaways: 1. Fighting Feelings with Action: I’m sharing how I deal with discouragement by not letting my feelings dictate my actions. I know firsthand how real self-doubt and imposter syndrome can be, but I’ve learned that acting despite them is what keeps me moving forward. 2. Consistency is Everything: I talk about how it’s not perfection that brings success, it’s consistency. I’m encouraging you to keep going even when things don’t feel perfect. It’s those daily actions that lead to long-term progress. 3. What I Think About Matters: To beat discouragement, I’ve had to become very intentional about thinking about what I’m thinking about. If negative thoughts, doubt, or fear start creeping in, I actively counter them by consuming positive content and affirming my goals. 4. Speaking Life Over My Goals: I share how I speak affirmations over myself and my goals every day, and how praying over my vision board helps keep me grounded in belief. These practices help me replace self-doubt with self-love and confidence; key ingredients in overcoming discouragement. Mentioned in This Episode: - Books like Battlefield of the Mind and Atomic Habits: tools that help me retrain my thought process and stay focused on my goals. - The power of daily affirmations and prayer in building a positive mindset. - How consistency and small actions, done day in and day out, can lead to success. Listen to this episode if: - You’re struggling to stay motivated or you’ve hit a mid-January slump. - You want to learn how to act in spite of discouragement and negative feelings. - You need tips for staying disciplined and consistent toward your goals. - You’re looking for ways to build confidence and replace doubt with positive self-talk.

Embracing Change

In this episode, we dive into the complexities of change and how our relationship with it shapes who we are. I reflect on my love-hate relationship with change—whether it’s moving schools, adjusting to new friendships, or navigating shifts in life that you never asked for. We often look back on certain times in our lives with nostalgia, remembering only the good and leaving the bad behind. But is it possible that we’ve romanticized those moments? Were those times really as perfect as we remember, or are we glossing over the hard stuff? The episode challenges the tendency to "get things back to the way they were" and encourages embracing the inevitable changes that come with life. If we spend all our time looking back, we might miss the opportunities unfolding right in front of us. Through stories of personal growth—from adapting to new schools and making new friends to learning from unexpected situations—we are reminded that change, even when it feels tough, is often a gateway to important lessons and self-discovery. Change doesn’t always have to be bad, and sometimes it’s the very thing that brings the growth we never saw coming. Tune in for a conversation on how to let go of the past, embrace what's ahead, and learn to see the beauty in life's constant shifts.
