God has brought the world to DFW -- not only for their benefit but for everyone's. That's just one of several compelling ideas I talked about with my friend Reward Sibanda, part of World Visions Church & Community Relations team. What do you think of when you hear "child welfare"? A grumpy lady with a clipboard? Foster parents in it for the wrong reasons? You probably don't understand their role and certainly not how they complement churches, schools, nonprofits, and law enforcement. Meet the founding Director of the Faith-Based & Community Engagement arm of Texas' Dept. of Family & Protective Servies. She's since come home to DFW where she's rallying the Church and community from the outside. You'd be hard-pressed to hear a more interesting perspective on flourishing, so this will be worth your time.
The collective Church in DFW has more resources than any in the history of the world. So why do we have one of the highest rates of poverty in the country? Meet a powerhouse from Ellis County who has one foot in the nonprofit space and one in local government.
