Episode 21 - Crashland - Interview with Alex troup

Crashland were a melodic indie rock band originating in Wales with loads of great songs. And they were very underrated in our opinion and are the epiotomy of our uncharted mission to bring the stories of bands that you may not have heard of to our listeners attention ! The band were together from 1996-2003 and were given the title of NME's next big thing alongside Coldplay on the cover of the NME. The lead singer and main songwriter Alex Troup went on to live in Los Angeles and started a new band called Troup with more great songwriting. We will be putting a spotlight on this music and talking to Alex about Crashland and Troup Later in the podcast. The interview starts at around 18 minutes in after a short Biography of the band. This episode also features an absolute world exclusive which is unheard material that the band recorded but never released we have access to the demos and include a clip from one of the songs. The Passions were a British-Irish post-punk/new wave band which formed in 1978 and disbanded in 1983. The Passions' music had Barbara Gogan's voice and Clive Timperley's guitar work. Their major chart hit, "I'm in Love with a German Film Star", was released as the band's fourth single on 23 January 1981The lyrics were written by Gogan about Steve Connelly, a one-time roadie for The Clash and Sex Pistols who had minor roles in several German films. He also tells the story of the albums he made with them and how having a hit single impacted the band positively and negatively. Its ultimately another story where the record company didnt have enough faith in the ban despite them selling 250,000 copies of their single in 3 days !. The Band worked with Producers Pete Wilson (The Jam), Nigel Gray (The Police) and Mick Glossop (The Skids). There are also stories of the 101'ers (Joe Strummers band before the Clash) and many others. I hope you enjoy the episode because you may not have heard of the band but I'm sure you will have heard their single but hopefully this episode shows they were much more than just a a "one hit wonder" as always happy to have your feedback.
