Note sull'episodio

Reading classic stories is akin to wearing a jacket made 100 years ago. It fits but the style is different, the cut is a little off and the colours are slightly faded. Yet it tells us a lot about a world that no longer exists. People felt comfortable in these styles. The material was different. The cut was perhaps longer and rose up the neck a bit more. It gives us insight.

This story is fascinating. How quickly feelings can change. How odd that perspectives can reflect such meaningfully diverse thoughts, even among people who know one another well, as is often the case with couples. Then the sense of loss that is usually only felt too late.

O. Henry lived a challenging life and one which today most people would probably consider impossible, yet it was true.

FYI: Please forgive my terrible accents. I tried to adapt to the text but I am not sure I have been entirely convincing.
