In this episode, you will hear how seizing opportunities can maximize your social work career path. Our guest, Andrea Stallworth, LCSW (inactive), is the Director of Field Education and Assistant Professor in the Social Work Department at Tuskegee University. She is also an international speaker that focuses on self-care, and technology education, and Certified Life Coach, mentor, digital storyteller, and social media consultant. Andrea has over 14 years of Clinical Social Work, Non-Profit, Social Services Management, Youth Development, and Leadership experience. She is the digital storyteller, content creator, and Co-Founder of The Careerist Project and Founder of the Brown Girl from Boston blog, both social impact startups focus on developing healthy and holistic individuals through career development, personal development, and professional development through life and career coaching, mentoring, and facilitating online workshops and webinars. She earned an MSW in Social Work from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2009 and a B.A in Social Work from Tuskegee University in 2006. "Lifting the Veil of Ignorance" through Research

Kendahl Brown is a junior social work major with a minor in sociology from west Georgia. She is a part of multiple extracurricular activities such as the Tuskegee University Social Work Alliance where she served as the events coordinator in the 2021-22 school year, Vice President in the 2022-23 school year, and will serve as President in the 2023-2024 school year. She is also a member of the collegiate 100, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and Phi Alpha Honor Society. She has been on the dean's list since Spring 2020.

Hello, I am Jordan Davenport! I am a graduating Social Work senior here at Tuskegee University. I am from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I will be attending University of Michigan to pursue my master's degree in social work with a pathway of Intergrated Mental Health and Substance Abuse. A Child's Hero

Vanessa M. Jackson, is a native of Montgomery, AL and Tuskegee University Dept of Vanessa Jackson is a licensed clinical social worker and motivational speaker. Her specialty treatment area is working with persons who have experienced complex trauma. She has significant experience treating survivors of sexual assault/abuse. Vanessa founded Get the Word Out, Inc. a grassroots nonprofit organization designed to put a stop to childhood sexual abuse and educate adults on how to keep kids safe. Vanessa is the author of “I SAY!” a children’s book written to empower young people to demonstrate ownership of their thoughts, feelings and bodies. Vanessa currently works in private practice creating and providing an array of consultation and treatment services for vulnerable youth and adults. Vanessa has facilitated trainings to mental health practitioners, social workers, educators, case managers, community members and outreach organizations around adverse life experiences, sensory-based interventions, and reducing risk factors with children and youth. Vanessa attended Tuskegee University where she earned her BSW and thereafter the University of Michigan where she received a Masters of Social Work. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Vanessa now calls Michigan home. She resides in Canton with her husband (a graduate of ASU)- who is also a social worker--and her outgoing 4-year-old son Langston. Pioneer in Child Welfare Social Work

Tonya Allen, LMSW is a retired child welfare agency county director in the state of Alabama. She served 31 years within the child welfare system and worked her way up to County Director, where she had the honor of serving constituents in Macon County, AL. She gave back through student mentorship and supervision of interns from the Tuskegee University Dept. of Social Work. She is a 2003 alumnus of the University of Alabama and the well-known HBCU Stillman College. She now volunteers her time in her hometown to continue to make positive social change in the world! Authentic Healing & Wellness

Join this episode to get the "tea" on healing, wellness, & so much more with Dr. Wilson, LMHC! She is a clinical psychologist, minister, and proud mother of two girls. She currently resides in the state of Texas and she is the founder and owner of the Center on Healing. Dr. Wilson is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a Mental Health Clinician, Advocate, and Leader in the wellness arena. As a Licensed Mental Health Clinician and Psychologist, she is the founder of Centered on Healing, LLC (CoHe), the creator of Therapy University TM, a wellness app, and currently serves as an Associate Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinator in higher education. As a clinician, Dr. Wilson provides client-centered, solution-focused mental health and wellness resources and services to individuals using a holistic approach. Her mission and that of the CoHe team is to see clients whole, healed, and healthy. She believes that healthy individuals create healthy communities. CoHe is a one-stop hub providing services, tools, resources, and support to help our clients achieve their wellness goals. He is the proud son of Peggy Maddox of Union Springs, AL. He is a TU football player, brother to Anfela Maddox, a Dean's list honoree 22', and a future child welfare worker. Veterinary Social Work

Chankia Berry, MSW, is a certified Veterinary Social Worker at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in Tuskegee, AL. She obtained her MSW from Berry University in Miami, FL. Ms. Berry is an alumnus of TU's Department of Social Work and a proud member of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society! She has worked in many industries such as hospitals, nursing homes, mental health facilities, and the Department of Family and Children Services which allowed her to gain several transferable skills for practice today. Notably, she is the founder of the Veterinary Social Work Program at Tuskegee University! She will provide us with insight into the human and animal interaction of social work practice. The Global Experience

Trinity Angel Smith, BSW, is a Tuskegee University alumni 0f 2022! She was born and raised in Baltimore, MD, and recently moved to Georgia. She has extensive studies in international affairs, blessed with the opportunities to study abroad in Sydney and work abroad in Korea. "I will strive to uplift the Black communities wherever I may be as well as make a global impact wherever my future path leads me." Her story of how to chart your path at an HBCU in the social work major and her current international experience is interesting, to say the least. Child welfare and well-being are one of her many passions. Listen up to broaden your horizons!
