On February 8, 1983, a plumber was called to an apartment complex at 23 Cranley Gardens due to complaints from the tenants about blocked drains and bad odors. When the plumber lifted the drain cover and peered inside, he saw what looked to be a flesh-like substance and small bone fragments. What the plumber did not know at this time was that he had just discovered the remains of victims murdered by a sadistic serial killer named Dennis Nilsen, who was also a tenant living at 23 Cranley Gardens. In part 1 of 2, we will cover Dennis Nilsen's childhood and the beginning of his infamous murder spree that eventually led to the discovery of his victims' remains in the drainpipes. Between 1981 and 1982, four women were brutally attacked, beaten over the head and stabbed with an ice pick or a screwdriver. Two of the women would survive their attacks, but unfortunately, the other two would not. While the methods used in the attacks on these women were similar in and of themselves, there was also another eerie characteristic that they shared - after each attack, a man - speaking in a high-pitched, weepy voice - made a call to the police department confessing his crimes. In this episode, we discuss the crimes of the Weepy Voiced Killer, the phone calls he made, and the actions that finally got him caught.
