Everyday Winners: Daniel

Daniel is the Everyday Winner this week on The Winning Response Podcast. At a young age Daniel was placed in an environment that did not honor God but Daniel chose to honor God anyway. We see that this allowed God to promote him, protect him and give him favor with those over him. Daniel was able to win in every situation he faced as he honored God. Hebrews 11:32-33 (NIV) And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, Daniel 1:8-20 (NIV) But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. 9 Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel, Daniel 1:10-20 (NIV) Daniel 2:25-28 (NIV) 25 Arioch took Daniel to the king at once and said, “I have found a man among the exiles from Judah who can tell the king what his dream means.” 26 The king asked Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), “Are you able to tell me what I saw in my dream and interpret it?” 27 Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, 28 but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind as you were lying in bed are these: Daniel 2: 45-49 (NIV) “The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.” 46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him. 47 The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.” 48 Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men. Moreover, at Daniel’s request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court. Daniel 6:3-5 (ERV) 3 Daniel proved himself to be a better supervisor than any of the others. He did this by his good character and great ability. The king was so impressed with Daniel that he planned to make him ruler over the whole kingdom. 4 But when the other supervisors and the satraps heard about this, they were very jealous. They tried to find reasons to accuse Daniel. So they watched what Daniel did as he went about doing the business of the government. But they could not find anything wrong with him, so they could not accuse him of doing anything wrong. Daniel was a man people could trust. He did not cheat the king, and he worked very hard. 5 Finally, they said, “We will never find any reason to accuse Daniel of doing something wrong. So we must find something to complain about that is connected to the law of his God.” Daniel 6:6-28 (ERV) Daniel 2:49 (ERV) 49 Daniel asked the king to make Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego important officials over the province of Babylon. The king did as Daniel asked. Psalm 91 (NIV)

Everyday Winners: David

This week on The Winning Response we discuss the life of David, a man after God’s own heart. We see that even in the midst of his mistakes and failures God was focused on his heart. When David repented his past could not keep him from hearing from God and following His plan of a life of victory for David. Book Reference- Winning the Heart of God Rob Thompson Hebrews 11: 32-34 (ERV) Do I need to give you more examples? I don’t have enough time to tell you about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets. All of them had great faith. And with that faith they defeated kingdoms. They did what was right, and God helped them in the ways he promised. With their faith some people closed the mouths of lions. And some were able to stop blazing fires. Others escaped from being killed with swords. Some who were weak were made strong. They became powerful in battle and defeated other armies. 1 Samuel 13:14 (AMPC) But now your kingdom shall not continue; the Lord has sought out [David] a man after His own [b]heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be prince and ruler over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. 1 Samuel 16:6-12 (ERV) When Jesse and his sons arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the man who the Lord has chosen.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Eliab is tall and handsome, but don’t judge by things like that. God doesn’t look at what people see. People judge by what is on the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart. Eliab is not the right man.” Then Jesse called his second son, Abinadab. Abinadab walked by Samuel. But Samuel said, “No, this is not the man who the Lord chose.” Then Jesse told Shammah to walk by Samuel. But Samuel said, “No, the Lord did not choose this man, either.” Jesse showed seven of his sons to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these men.” Then he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” Jesse answered, “No, I have another son—my youngest, but he is out taking care of the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him. Bring him here. We won’t sit down to eat until he arrives.” Jesse sent someone to get his youngest son. This son was a good-looking, healthy[b] young man. He was very handsome. The Lord said to Samuel, “Get up and anoint him. He is the one.” Samuel took the horn with the oil in it, and poured the special oil on Jesse’s youngest son in front of his brothers. The Spirit of the Lord came on David with great power from that day on. Then Samuel went back home to Ramah. Psalm 27:10 (AMPC) Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child]. James 4:8 (NKJV) Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. 2 Samuel 11:1-14 (ERV) Psalm 51:1-17 (GNT) 1 Samuel 17:32-37 (GNT) 1 Samuel 17:41-51 (GNT) 2 Samuel 5:6-10 (ERV) 2 Samuel 8:6 (ERV) The Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.

Everyday Winners: The Israelites/Walls of Jericho

In this episode Jen and Crystal discuss the response that was required for the Israelites to see the walls of Jericho fall. As they obeyed His direction they received the promise of God. Just like them, God expects us to respond with the sound of faith even before we see the details of our situation change. This is a winning response! Hebrews 11:30 (TLB) It was faith that brought the walls of Jericho tumbling down after the people of Israel had walked around them seven days as God had commanded them. Numbers 27: 16-23 (NIV) Moses said to the Lord, “May the Lord, the God who gives breath to all living things, appoint someone over this community to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the Lord’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.” So the Lord said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership,[a] and lay your hand on him. Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence. Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him. He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the Lord. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in.” Moses did as the Lord commanded him. He took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole assembly. Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the Lord instructed through Moses. Joshua 1: 1-9 (NIV) After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 3:7 (NIV) And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. Proverbs 27:17 (CJB) Just as iron sharpens iron, a person sharpens the character of his friend. Proverbs 13:20 (TLB) Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. Joshua 2:24 (NIV) They said to Joshua, “The Lord has surely given the whole land into our hands; all the people are melting in fear because of us.” Joshua 6:1-25 (NIV) Joshua 6:20-25 (CEV)

Everyday Winners: Moses

In this episode of The Winning Response we look at the life of Moses. God chose Moses even though he had made mistakes and didn’t see himself as qualified to lead. We learn that like Moses our past does not define us or our ability to fulfill God’s plan for our life. God will create a win in our lives when we choose to follow Him. Exodus 3:12 (ERV) God said, “You can do it because I will be with you. This will be the proof that I am sending you: After you lead the people out of Egypt, you will come and worship me on this mountain.” Exodus 4:10 (ERV) Then Moses said to the LORD, “But, Lord, I am telling you, I am not a good speaker. I have never been able to speak well. And that hasn’t changed since you started talking to me. I am still not a good speaker. You know that I speak slowly and don’t use the best words. Exodus 4:12-14 (ERV) So go. I will be with you when you speak. I will give you the words to say.” But Moses said, “My Lord, I beg you to send someone else, not me.” Then the LORD became angry with Moses and said, “All right! I’ll give you someone to help you. Aaron the Levite is your brother, isn’t he? He is a good speaker. In fact, Aaron is already coming to meet you, and he will be happy to see you. 1 Cor. 1:26-30 (The Message Bible) Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:22-23 (ERV) Sprinkled with the blood of Christ, our hearts have been made free from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. So come near to God with a sincere heart, full of confidence because of our faith in Christ. 23 We must hold on to the hope we have, never hesitating to tell people about it. We can trust God to do what he promised. We must know who we are in Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:11 (TLB) In the past some of you were like that. But you were washed clean, you were made holy, and you were made right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Psalm 103: 7-13 (NL T) He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.

Everyday Winners: Joseph

Our Everyday Winner this week is Joseph. As we look at his life we see that even in some very difficult situations Joseph maintained godly character and honor. His choice to respond in faith and forgive allowed God to bring him to a place of victory, restoration, and influence. Hebrews 11:22 (ERV) And when Joseph was almost dead, he spoke about the people of Israel leaving Egypt. And he told them what they should do with his body. He did this because he had faith. Genesis 39:2 (AMP) The LORD was with Joseph, and he [even though a slave] became a successful and prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. Genesis 50:19-21 (ERV) Then Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. I am not God! I have no right to punish you. It is true that you planned to do something bad to me. But really, God was planning good things. God’s plan was to use me to save the lives of many people. And that is what happened. So don’t be afraid. I will take care of you and your children.” And so Joseph said kind things to his brothers, and this made them feel better. Genesis 39:6 (NIV) So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Jeremiah 29:11 (TLB) For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Genesis 41:38-43 (ERV) Then Pharaoh told them, “I don’t think we can find anyone better than Joseph to take this job! God’s Spirit is in him, making him very wise!” So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “God showed these things to you, so you must be the wisest man. I will put you in charge of my country, and the people will obey all your commands. I will be the only one more powerful than you.” Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I now make you governor over all of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh gave his special ring to Joseph. Theroyal seal was on this ring. Pharaoh also gave Joseph a fine linen robe and put a gold chain around his neck. Then he told Joseph to ride in his second chariot. Pharaoh’s officials said, “Let him be the governor over the whole land of Egypt!” Genesis 49:22-26 (ERV) “Joseph is like a wild donkey, like a young donkey by a spring, like colts grazing in a pasture. People attacked him and made life hard for him. Men with arrows became his enemies. But he won the fight with his mighty bow and his skillful arms. He gets power from the Mighty One of Jacob, from the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel, the God of your father who helps you. May God All-Powerful bless you and give you blessings from the sky above and from the deep below. May he give you blessings from breast and womb. My parents had many good things happen to them. And I, your father, was blessed even more. Your brothers left you with nothing. But now I pile all my blessings on you, as high as a mountain

Everyday Winners: Sharon Smith

Jen and Crystal's guest this week is, Sharon Smith. Sharon openly shares her story of being delivered from fear and coming to a place of being able to trust God with her health. As she chose to yield to faith instead of fear, God proved Himself faithful and she received the promise of a child. Proverbs 18:21 (HCSB) Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Everyday Winners: Sarah

Sarah is known as an Everyday Winner because she judged God as faithful in keeping His promises. She honored God and her husband and received a child even through moments of uncertainty. In this episode we will learn how to trust in the faithfulness of God for ourselves and win in life. Hebrews 11:11 (NIV) And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. 1 Peter 3:5-6 (NIV) For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. Genesis 15:2-5 (ERV) But Abram said, “Lord GOD, there is nothing you can give me that will make me happy, because I have no son. My slave Eliezer from Damascus will get everything I own after I die.” Abram said, “You have given me no son, so a slave born in my house will get everything I have.” Then the LORD spoke to Abram and said, “That slave will not be the one to get what you have. You will have a son who will get everything you own.” Then God led Abram outside and said, “Look at the sky. See the many stars. There are so many you cannot count them. Your family will be like that.” Genesis 17:19 (NLT) But God replied, “No—Sarah, your wife, will give birth to a son for you. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my covenant with him and his descendants as an everlasting covenant. Genesis 18:9-15 (ERV) Genesis 21:1-7 (NIV) Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him. Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him. When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me. “And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.” Psalm 37:4 (TLB) Be delighted with the Lord. Then he will give you all your heart’s desires. 1 Peter 3:7 (ERV) In the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in an understanding way, since they are weaker than you. You should show them respect, because God gives them the same blessing he gives you—the grace of true life. Do this so that nothing will stop your prayers from being heard.
