What we love about Panama & Las Lajas - less populated country, beauty everywhere, small town life, and more

Happy Friday! For a comical, inside look into our marriage, be sure to listen to the first 7 minutes of this episode! Ha....but for real, we are excited to talk about all that we've come to love about Panama and our little pueblo called Las Lajas, since living here for 9 months now! We talk about the perks of living in a country that is not over-populated, a country that is lush and beautiful almost everywhere you look. We love living in a small town where kids can ride their bike around safely and you know all your neighbors, you see cowboys and cattle running down the road regularly, and most people's yards are covered with trees and beautiful bright flowers, our favorite local restaurants, and more! What do you want to learn about or hear about most? Leave us a comment and/or write me (Nicole) an email at [nourishfarmturlock (at) gmail.com ] and let me know! We would love to hear from you. **To join the waitlist for our educational farm tours and Panama family relocation tours, visit this page of our website and add your name and email to the form. What we miss after relocating to Panama; things we miss from USA, California, and our hometown Turlock.

In today's episode, we reflect on what we miss from our home country and hometown, after relocating to Panama. This podcast episode isn't about complaining or wishing that we still had all these things we discuss. We just thought it would be fun to share some (mostly materialistic) things that we wistfully wish for sometimes. We talk about services we miss from USA as a whole, then share some California specific "things," and then end it by talking about what we miss from our hometown of Turlock, CA. What we've really learned after moving to Panama is how much we don't need all that convenience. Most of it was fun to have and enjoyable and brought value to our life, but it wasn't vital for our happiness and of course we knew that, but living here has proved that! Today's episodes is all about beaches! We are going to be talking about beaches (las playas) in Panama. Living near the beach was one of the top reasons we decided to move to Panama. We are so blessed to have found our dream farm, that we're now building on, near one of the best & most gorgeous beaches in all of the country of Panama - Playa Las Lajas, Chiriqui. We start the episode by discussing the coast lines here in Panama, the Pacific and Caribbean sides, types of beaches here, and what kind of services you can find at beaches here. Then we share our top 3 favorite beaches that we've been to here in Panama, and finish it off with some beaches that we still want to visit! Sit back, grab a cold drink, and enjoy hearing about some gorgeous, quiet, hidden gems here in Panama. Panama Protests - Part 3- The Finale. Protests & roadblocks are over; the people won; what we learned during the protests

Today we have another longer episode (hopefully the last long one for a while)! the FINAL part 3 of the Panama protest series. The Panama protests and roadblocks are over! The Panamanian people got what they asked for and we can all travel freely and get everything we need now. We start out with a slight recap of why and when the protests started and how it lasted for 41 days (October 22, 2023-December 2, 2023). We share how it ended with the Supreme Court finding the mining contract unconstitutional and how the mine will cease operations. This is what the protestors wanted. We discuss our uncertainty of whether or not the roadblocks would actually open. They finally did and have been open since! We touch a bit on the fallout from these roadblocks on the economy, agriculture, tourism, and more. We then share what we learned during this challenging time. We learned a lot about the kindness and patience of the people here and found new strength within ourselves. We are still 100% happy that we moved our life here and are excited to be able to get back to work on all our projects now! Travel Series: Panama City Trip Recap - beautiful architecture, deli meat, US Embassy, awesome Airb&b

This week is our Panama City Trip Recap! We visited Panama City back in October 2023 for a 3 (turned 4) day weekend to visit the USA Embassy. We needed to go to the Embassy to complete some business regarding our Panamanian drivers licenses. The trip included lots of good food, beautiful architecture, an amazing Airb&b, and….the beginning of the protests here in Panama. We ended up releasing our “Protests In Panama” episodes before this, because we thought they were more important to hear. But our Panama City trip was lots of fun and we’re excited to share it with you. Visit this link to see the AirB&B we stayed at in Panama City. Farm/Home Build Series: We Bought Land in Panama!

We bought land in Chiriqui, Panama! Today's episode is full of so much excitement, because we share all about our gorgeous piece of land & future farm, here in Las Lajas, Chiriqui, Panama. We purchased 7.1 hectares, or about 17 acres of overgrown pasture land, about 15 minutes from our favorite beach. We discuss the 6 non-negotiable features we were looking for in a piece of farm land here. We then talk about how we spent multiple weeks looking at different pieces of property and the 2-3 properties that really stood out to us. We share how the farm we ended up buying was not actually listed. It was shared with us by a local Panamanian realtor, and owned by a local Panamanian woman. We share how quickly we fell in love with it, the process of looking at it, putting an offer in, etc. Then we finish the episode up by talking about our vision for the farm, what we hope to build and accomplish there, and again how excited we are to get it all started! If you're looking to start your own homestead or sustainable farm in Central America, this episode would be a great listen for you! Thanks so much for listening. On the date that we release this episode, it has been 25 days, and the situation is the same.
