Purchasing property in Panama; it is simpler than you may think! Our positive story of buying land in Panama.
In today's episode, Eduardo and Nicole discuss something that they have talked about before, but with a bit more information for those of you who may be considering purchasing property in Panama. We start by giving a general guideline of how purchasing property in Panama works, who can buy land/property in Panama (spoiler: anyone!), how the process works and how long it takes. We then share our personal experience of looking at properties, making an offer on our property, and completing the process of buying raw land here in Chiriqui, Panama. We wanted to share our POSITIVE story because a lot of people shared negative stories with us when we first moved here. If you work with people you trust and are smart about not taking shortcuts during this process, purchasing land or a home here in Panama can be a very positive experience. Listen to our other episode from 2023: "We Bought Land in Panama" where share more details about what exactly we were looking for in a piece of land here and how we came upon our perfect, dream farm! All About Panama Series: Where we source our food in Panama; shopping in David & Boquete in Chiriqui province
In today's episode Eduardo & Nicole talk all about where they source their food in Panama. Because we live in the Chiriquí Province, we shop mostly in David and a bit up towards Boquete. We list all the different store (big and small) that we shop at, as well as the regenerative farm we make weekly orders at for veggies & meat. We share how it took us a while to find all these great sources of quality food, but now we have a great grocery shopping route and have connected with a lot of great people and businesses to eat really good. If we have a special meal or celebration, we can usually always find the ingredients we're looking for. We cook at home 95% of the time and always involve the kids in helping with our meals. If you live in Panama or are thinking of moving here, this would be a great episode for your to listen to! Travel Series: Santa Catalina Panama - great surf spot; tourist activities; good food options
Today we share all about our recent trip to Santa Catalina, Panama. Santa Catalina is a surf destination in Panama that we have been wanting to visit ever since we moved here. It is about 2 hours off the PanAmerican highway, but there is a lot to do in this little town in Panama. Surfing and other water activities are very popular here. The town of Santa Catalina, Panama is walkable with lots of great little restaurants, cafes and bars. We thought it was better suited to a younger crowd, but if you like to surf or are looking for some nightlife, this is the place for you! Our life in Panama after relocating almost 3 years ago. Aircrete dome living; our tropical Panama farm with cattle, fruit and veggies.
We are back after a year of not recording! We have been busy settling into life here in our aircrete dome home, on our tropical regenerative farm that we started from scratch. We are ready to start sharing about our life and farm again and also sharing more valuable information with those of you looking to relocate to this area of Panama, or Panama in general. >> What do you want to learn about or hear about most? Panama super rainy season: 3 weeks straight of rain and no sun! Super wet end of rainy season; muddy farm; aircrete dome update.
We are back after a bit of a hiatus. We finally got internet at our dome and now it is much easier to upload podcast episodes, so we are hoping to stay consistent again. Today we discuss the tropical storm that hit Panama during November 2024. There was significantly more rain than usual for that time of year (end of rainy season). We talk about how our farm and dome handled all the water; all the mud play the kids did; what is was like to have super cool weather here and actually put on sweaters! There was flooding in other parts of Panama and we share a bit about that. Farm/Dome Build Series: our off-grid solar power system; why we chose to go offgrid to power our aircrete dome home in Panama
In this Friday’s episode we dive into our solar power system! Our original plan was to connect to the grid and have a backup solar system, but that all changed when we got a quote for the thick cables that we needed to get power from the road to our house about 200 yards from the road. Listen to learn more about why we decided to go fully off-grid; what it was like finding a solar company down here; the process of getting the whole system set up; turning power on for the first time; and what we’ve experienced using it so far. Panama is very close to the equator and therefore gets a lot of sun all year long, so we are very happy to be utilizing the power of the sun! ------------ Follow along with our life and #domehomepanama progress via our Instagrams @nourishfarmpanama and @edddduuuaaaarrdddoooo *Music used with permission from www.joystock.org If you enjoyed our show or found something helpful, we'd love for you to leave us a kind review! Farm/Dome Build Series: we moved into our aircrete dome home! Off-grid power; well water system; outdoor shower and kitchen; the challenges and comedy of it all!
We are back with Season 3 and as promised, we waited until we could record this episode in our aircrete dome home! We officially moved in about 2 weeks ago and have been so happy and busy here! There's was a lot of last minute work over the past few weeks before we moved in, to make the dome livable for us (including setting up our solar power system, getting our well water to the house, installing an outdoor shower and more). There is still a number of things to complete on the home before we can say "it is done". BUT we are so excited and relieved to be finally living on our farm and in our new home. Our shipping container arrived, which we talk about, and it has been so sweet to have our stuff from California here with us now. We are excited for this new season and hope you enjoy today's first episode!
