This week, I'm talking about Digger, the new Tom Cruise film that's been getting dragged by critics — and, for once, I'm here to defend a movie that seemingly everyone else has a problem with. What starts off looking like a story about a billionaire oil tycoon quickly turns into something much stranger, with a twist that completely reframes the film and a satirical, almost theatrical approach that I found genuinely refreshing. I get into the film's many layers, its surprisingly brilliant cinematography, Tom Cruise's performance, and why I think the criticism that it's too sympathetic towards corporate CEOs misses some of the bigger points it's trying to make. Spoilers ahead! We get into the film's biggest reveals and its commentary on climate change, corporate greed, political hypocrisy, and our own complicity in the systems destroying the planet. Resident Evil is BACK, apparently — and somehow, it’s actually good. This week, I dive into the latest reboot and why Zack Cregger might have finally figured out how to rehabilitate a franchise that has been struggling for years. From its first-person video game-inspired camerawork and genuinely terrifying jump scares to its Gen Z humour, Austin Abrams’ surprisingly perfect protagonist, and its commentary on Big Pharma and corporate greed, there’s a lot to love. This week on The Overshare Pamphlet, I’m diving into the Ed Sheeran and Macklemore controversy following Macklemore’s speech about Palestine at MetLife Stadium. I talk about what happened behind the scenes, the role of Robert Kraft, Ed Sheeran’s response, and the bigger question of where music, politics, free speech, and celebrity power collide. I also get into the idea of “staying neutral” and whether artists can really separate themselves from politics when they have such massive platforms. Is the cinema officially back? I’m also looking ahead at the films still to come in 2026, including Resident Evil, Clayface, Prime Time, the Hunger Games prequel, and the absolutely insane December showdown between Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three.
