Psalm 98 brings our journey through the Christ-centered Psalms to its fitting conclusion: worship. The Psalm begins with God’s people singing a new song because the Lord has won a marvelous victory, expands outward to the nations, and finally summons the whole creation to rejoice before the coming King. The salvation accomplished in Christ reveals both God’s mercy and His righteousness, gathers worshipers from every nation, and points forward to the day when Christ will make all things new.
But what is the ultimate goal of it all? Not merely that we are saved, or even that we are happy. The goal is that the Lamb receives the reward of His suffering; a redeemed people from every tribe, language, people, and nation, worshiping the King who purchased them with His blood.
