Note sull'episodio
Sometimes, finding calm starts by coming back to the body.
In this episode of The CalmCast, we’re joined by yoga therapist and Calm Space Studio Manager Maria Hillier for a conversation about yoga therapy, nervous system regulation, breath, movement, and self-compassion.
Maria helps us look beyond the idea that yoga is simply a series of poses. Yoga therapy can be adapted to the individual and may include movement, breathwork, guided meditation, mindfulness, or simply learning to notice what’s happening in your body.
We talk about:
✨ What yoga therapy actually is—and how it differs from a traditional yoga class
✨ The connection between the body, stress, and the nervous system
✨ How yoga therapy can complement counselling by helping us embody regulation, not just understand it intellectually
✨ The power of simply noticing your breath
✨ Self-compassion as a practice, both on and off the mat
✨ Finding the practices that actually feel supportive and sustainable for you
Most importantly, this episode is a reminder that there’s no one “right” way to move, breathe, or find your way back to calm.
Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is simply meet our body where it is, without asking it to be anything different.
And, as always, remember: calm isn’t something you find—it’s something you practice.
