Gate to Gate - The Dead Presidents Discussion

The end of the 20th century saw two staples slowly fade away from the public eye - movie soundtracks and Hollywood-supported Black cinema. Both reach a proverbial pinnacle with the release of Dead Presidents in 1995. Terminal gates are open from all over to discuss both fading staples, the rise (and fall) of starlets from these projects and as far as Dead Presidents; to paraphrase Troy McClure - Ehh...the movie or the soundtrack? 3 Outta 7: 23 - I’m not allowed to go in the deep end.

We miss our Snakes Snowdown reporter, but brave on with a back and forth about a bad football game before throwing out names for various things. Ranging on a side tangent happens at some point, but that wasn't the brief baseball labor banter. That resulted from bickering about TV ratings. But that was at the end, so how do I begin? Mets Up - The End of 2026

It's an inevitable outcome but one that still comes as a surprise. However, the surprise was ruined months ago when a 12-game losing streak stunted the Mets season before it could begin. As I look back only a few moments after there was a reason to watch, I lament about the little I can before I return to waiting for another baseball season. Maybe this time I'll get more than just a Benge in the box. Tonight's Trivia Answer - .246 YouTube - https://youtu.be/QLSITJwU-nA MartinKester.com

RDAT - A Debut Album Discussion

A quorum about the Rap Debut Album Tournament (RDAT); A fictional invention from seven years ago essentially working backwards from the statement – Illmatic by Nas is the greatest rookie rap album. Tonight we gather to discuss the spark that is a debut album. Or is that what it was? Is the album a 20th century construct and if so, then why not fall back to a 19th century tradition and rank them with nothing but our opinions. Mets Up - The Polar Bear Returns

Pete Alonso returns to Citi Field and the fans in attendance make their emotions known vocally. It's been almost a fortnight since I stepped off the 7 train, but it feels like I was there in spirit. Even if it was only on a screen... A screen that's already filled with football of all ages, whether I want to see it or not. So what will I do to avoid the flying foosball? Will I fall privy to pigskin or ponder what free agent signings will appease the peons? Isn't bread and cheese enough? 3 Outta 7: 22 - Remember Alf? He's back...in pog form!

Skip skipped a recent start, so a sluggish start should be expected. Who expected Ketel Marte to be discussed in the latest Shakes Snowdown? That guy with his hand raised, that's who! How about the change of seasons from the safety of spring training to the end of the summer equinox. But that differs from the Labor Day weekend, which is unofficially when some teams really should pack it in. But I'm not bitter my team's been out of it for weeks. Not at all. Mets Up - 5-Month Review with Josh Sarfity

And just like that, the dog days of August are done, and the final stretch of the season starts...for those with something to play for. For months, the Mets have been playing for the love of the game and ticket-paying fans like I was to end the 8th month! I'll discuss my thoughts about Citi Field with the Terminal's unofficial Stadium Chaser Josh Sarfity. We'll talk sightlines, foresight on the recent prospect overhaul, and oversight on what POBO David Stearns has done so far. This Just In - here's where we are likely to disagree and continue this for a lot longer than usual. Tonight's Trivia Answer - 18 YouTube - https://youtu.be/MEgo-oEK9Tg MartinKester.com

RDAT: Queens Final - 50 Cent vs. Nas

A quorum about the Rap Debut Album Tournament (RDAT); A fictional invention from seven years ago essentially working backwards from the statement - Illmatic by Nas is the greatest rookie rap album. Tonight is the Finals of the Queens Bracket based on the 18th article in the RDAT series - ‘One Love’ vs. ‘In Da Club’ The overall top seed is tested by an artist on a similar path, discovered by the streets on a track many might not have heard when it first was released. Now with history's grace, 'How to Rob' opened eyes like 'Live at the BBQ' way back when. When a hot verse was enough. Terminal Talk - It Takes 2 to lie. One to lie & one to listen.

After a fortnight under silent siege from afar, we return to look ahead at a subjective finish line stripped hundreds of miles from this ivory tower. But that line is near what consumes my waking hours - the New York Mets. Opining about the benefits of a lost season and hope for Carson Benge and a bright future; not even thinking about seeing Citi Field for the first time. For the first time, an ancient myth about water. The water that holds ships from Ratius. Even if you can't see them now, know they're coming. RDAT: Groups Final – Wu-Tang Clan vs. OutKast

A quorum about the Rap Debut Album Tournament (RDAT); A fictional invention from seven years ago essentially working backwards from the statement - Illmatic by Nas is the greatest rookie rap album. Tonight is the Finals of the Groups Bracket based on the 19th article in the RDAT series - C.R.E.A.M. vs. Player's Ball. This deep in the RDAT, there are no losers. While choosing a winner is the goal, we'll spend this episode celebrating the greatness of these debut albums by all-time great musicians. But which will move on?
