"I remember the moment we both could've made a better decision..."

I met Jess in the party scene in my early 20s. Her presence always captivated everyone in the room, and confidence seemed to drip off of her. A decade later I found out that she was in recovery from meth, and later found out that she turned to drugs because of lack of confidence and self-acceptance. In this episode she shares not only about her struggle and recovery from meth, but also her journey of self-acceptance.

"At my peak I lost everything and had to start over."

CeCe Rex, owner of Special Touch Massages LLC, lost her house, car, partner, business, and uncle; all in the span of 6 months. In this episode she talks about what she learned from that experience and gives tips on how to successfully run a business.

"At the age of four, Dr. Lise Deguire suffered third-degree burns on 65% of her body as the result of both maternal and corporate negligence."

I will be talking to Lise about her new book, Flashback Girl, which "brings you into the dysfunctional and tragic world of her family, which include artistic genius, narcissistic and neglectful parents, eccentricity, and four suicides." Most importantly in this episode, she teaches us about resilience and the path to life satisfaction. If you prefer audiobooks, her daughter beautifully narrates her story for her.

"When I was a black man, I didn't like myself."

I've had the privilege of witnessing Tia transition into a beautiful, confident woman. In this episode she talks about how the world treated her when they viewed her as a black man, and how the world treats her now that she is her authentic self. She also talks about the benefits of transitioning at a younger age. Tia is also an Illustrator/Graphic Designer. You can find her on IG @ tia_s28.

Instead of God being on our side, we need to be on God's side

My pastor, Jonny Rashid, talks about his racist experiences as an Arab American, as well as coming out publicly before coming out to his family. In his book, Jesus Takes a Side, he talks about how Christians not only need to take a political side, but need to take the side that chooses love and liberation, and not death and oppression.
