005: Optimisation with Sarah-Jayne Bray

Welcome back to The PIVOT Leadership Podcast. In this episode, we're focusing on optimising your team. As the hybrid working model has become more popular, managing a team with both in-person and remote workers requires new skills and tools. It is important that they pivot and optimise their hybrid team by making passion contagious no matter where, or how, they are working. Today’s guest, Sarah-Jayne Bray, is an expert in this, having been an engagement manager for South Wales Police. Sarah-Jayne has been a part of the policing family for over 20 years. An experienced internal engagement manager, SJB has supported the NPCC Wellbeing of Investigator group since 2021. Sarah-Jayne is a passionate supporter of diversity and inclusion, and was chair of the SWP Gender Equality Network, chairing the All Wales Gender Equality Network meeting throughout 2021. She is a member of the Thames Valley Women’s Network, leading the TVWN Boost Programme to improve the confidence of women in TVP. We’ll be discussing how Sarah-Jayne ensures she optimises her team to their fullest potential. She shares the difficulties they’ve faced in hiring for detective roles, and how they have overcome these challenges. Sarah-Jayne also shares simple, actionable advice for any leaders who want to optimise their team's output. 003: Inclusion with Hayley Selway

In this episode, we're focusing on inclusion. Every leader should aim to create an environment of involvement, respect, and connection. It is important to examine leaders’ ability to demonstrate inclusive leadership and how well they create communities rather than cultures. Today’s guest is Hayley Selway; a leader who is passionate about creating an inclusive workforce. In December 2023, she became the Chief Executive of Two Rivers Housing. Prior to this, she was working at Cardiff Community Housing Association where she built a values-driven, top performing housing association with customers at its heart. She has a wealth of experience under her belt in creating an inclusive team and running initiatives to ensure everyone feels welcome. I’ll be talking to Hayley about when she first saw a need for enforcing a more inclusive workforce and what she has done during her roles to make this happen. 002: Perseverance with Megan Hine

In this episode, we're focusing on perseverance. A leader who perseveres is ready for the long haul and is able to propel their teams towards purpose. To join me in discussing perseverance is wilderness guide and survivalist, Megan Hine. Megan has produced some of the biggest adventure and survival shows on TV, treading the line between extreme survival and entertainment for audiences of millions. She’s shaped Emmy award winning content and led talent and film crews in the world’s toughest environments for 20 years. As expedition leader, Megan organises and leads adventures to remote wilderness locations. Keeping herself and her crew alive means learning to respect and understand intimately the terrain she’s operating in. But survival in the hardest conditions likewise demands that people understand their own mental landscape, finding the will to cross frontiers within themselves. I’ll be talking to Megan about the lessons she’s learnt through her work in the wilderness, how perseverance is key when she’s leading her team, and how you can transfer some of her knowledge into your own leadership style.
