Filled to the Brim

“I am the shadow on the moon at night; filling your dreams to the brim with fright” - Oogie Boogie (Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas, 1993). That Sunday evening, the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” He said (John 20:19, NLT). Step By Faith: Jesus, in the midst of our fear, stand among us and speak Your peace over us and our lives—calm every heart and mind, and remind us You are here. Amen. There She Stands

“I sense there's something in the wind that feels like tragedy's at hand and though I'd like to stand by him, can't shake this feeling that I have… What will become of my dear friend? Where will his actions lead us then? Although I'd like to join the crowd in their enthusiastic cloud…” - Sally (Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas, 1993) Do you hear Lady Wisdom calling? Can you hear Madame Insight raising her voice? She’s taken her stand at First and Main, at the busiest intersection. Right in the city square where the traffic is thickest, she shouts, “You—I’m talking to all of you, everyone out here on the streets (Proverbs 8:1-2, MSG)! Step By Faith: Dear Lord, let Your wisdom call out clearly to every heart listening today—place Your truth in the open places of our lives so we can hear and follow You. Help us to be still and listen to Your still, small voice when we are overwhelmed by feelings of doubt, uncertainty, and impending doom that we can’t shake. Thank You, Lord God. Amen. A Song Of Understanding

“All the flowers would have very extra-special powers. They would sit and talk to me for hours, when I'm lonely in a world of my own. Within that world of my own I could listen to a babbling brook. And hear a song that I could understand. I keep wishing it could be that way because my world would be a wonderland” - Alice (Disney's Alice In Wonderland, 1951). Good friend, take to heart what I’m telling you; collect my counsels and guard them with your life. Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom; set your heart on a life of Understanding (Proverbs 2:1-2, MSG). Step By Faith: Father, give us hearts that hunger for Your Word and ears that are ready to receive Your wisdom. Help us listen closely and treasure what You say, shaping our lives by Your truth. Amen. The Edge of The Water

“I've been staring at the edge of the water ‘long as I can remember, never really knowing why. I wish I could be the perfect daughter, but I come back to the water, no matter how hard I try. Every turn I take, every trail I track, every path I make, every road leads back to the place I know, where I cannot go, where I long to be. See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me and no one knows how far it goes. If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me, one day I'll know. If I go, there's just no telling how far I'll go” - Moana (Disney's Moana, 2016). Peter, suddenly bold, said, “Master, if it’s really you, call me to come to You on the water.” He said, “Come ahead.” Jumping out of the boat, Peter walked on the water to Jesus. But when he looked down at the waves churning beneath his feet, he lost his nerve and started to sink. He cried, “Master, save me!” Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand. Then He said, “Faint-heart, what got into you?” The two of them climbed into the boat, and the wind died down (Matthew 14:28-33, MSG). Step By Faith: Lord, in the midst of fear and uncertainty, help us step out in faith like Peter. Keep our eyes fixed on You, and when we begin to sink, reach out and lift us up. Grow our trust so we can truly believe—You are with us. Amen. The Darkness Of Lies

“Born in grief. Raised in hate. Helpless to defy his fate. Let him run. Let him live, but do not forget what we cannot forgive. And he is not one of us. He has never been one of us. He is not part of us. Not our kind.” Someone once lied to us, now we're not so blind. For we knew he would do what he's done, and we know that he'll never be one of us.” - (Disney's The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, 1998) Jesus said, “Forsake the habit of criticizing and judging others, and you will not be criticized and judged in return. Don’t condemn others and you will not be condemned. Forgive over and over, and you will be forgiven over and over (Luke 6:37, TPT). Step By Faith: Lord, help us release passing judgment on others and criticizing based on what we believe to be true about them. Help us instead to be quick to forgive them as You, Lord, freely forgive us. And when we are hurt by the judgment of others, let us choose mercy over rejection, and walk in forgiveness today. Amen. Verses For Thought: Luke 6:37 / Hosea 4:6 / Colossians 3:13 / Proverbs 14:12 / Romans 1:25 / John 8:32, 44 / Isaiah 43:1 / 1 Peter 2:9 / Psalm 119:105 Email Me! Nobody Else But....

Max: There are times you drive me, shall we say, bananas. And your mind is missin', no offence, a screw. Goofy: None taken. Max: Still, whatever mess I land in, who is always understandin'? Nobody else but you. Both: But when I start to sink, hey, I'd rather go down, with nobody else but Y-O-U! - (Disney's A Goofy Movie, 1995) Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it (1 Thessalonians 5:14-15, MSG). Step By Faith: Lord, help us to be patient with everyone, encourage the weak, and always choose kindness over wrong. Fill our hearts to do good in every moment with everyone we meet. Amen. It's Worth Every Mile

“… I am on my way. I can go the distance. I don't care how far, somehow I'll be strong… I know every mile will be worth my while. I would go most anywhere to find where I belong.” - Hercules (Disney's Hercules, 1997) When Yahweh (the Lord God) delights in how you live your life, He establishes your every step (Psalm 37:23, TPT). Step By Faith: Lord, guide every step we take today—establish our paths and lead us with joy as we follow You and trust in You to direct our decisions in every mile of the way. Amen. Let's Get Down To It

“Let's get down to business, to defeat the Huns. Did they send me daughters, when I asked for sons? You're the saddest bunch I ever met, but you can bet before we're through, mister, I'll make a man out of you.” - Shang (Disney's Mulan, 1998) Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything that I teach you, and pay attention to all that I have to say. Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit. Then, as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being (Proverbs 4:20-22, TPT). Step By Faith: Mighty God, help us listen closely to Your words, keep them deep in our hearts, and to walk in the life and healing You give without giving up. Amen. Verses For Thought: Proverbs 4:20 / Romans 5:3-5, 8:37, 12:12 / Matthew 11:28-30 / Psalm 32:8 / Galatians 6:9 / 1 Corinthians 15:57 / 2 Corinthians 4:9 / Isaiah 41:10 / 1 Corinthians 15:57 / 2 Corinthians 4:9 / Isaiah 41:10 / Romans 12:1-2 Email Me! An Angel In Disguise

“Hi, it's me again. I need someone to be my friend. Someone who won't run away. Maybe send me an angel! The nicest angel you have" - Lilo (Disney's Lilo & Stitch, 2002). “You look like an angel (look like an angel), walk like an angel (walk like an angel), talk like an angel, but I got wise. You're the devil in disguise. Oh, yes, you are, devil in disguise” - Elvis Presley and the Jordanaires, 1968. And show hospitality to strangers, for they may be angels from God showing up as your guests (Hebrews 13:2, TPT).
