Your identity consists of your beliefs and ideas that you hold to be true about yourself. But a lot of us wrap our identity around the roles we have been assigned and taken on in our lives or our past experiences. And, we will decide what we are capable of based on those roles and experiences. In this episode of The Andrea Engstrom Show (podcast), STEP INTO YOUR IDENTITY, I share a lot of things I would call accomplishments. But over the years, I also dropped out of college. I quit my first marriage. I went into debt. I developed a drinking problem. I gained 100 pounds. I sabotaged my relationships by being critical and blaming everyone around me for my unhappiness. I didn’t manage my stress well. I tried a million different ways to comfort myself in my suffering. These were all symptoms of what was going on inside me and I needed to change. LIES INTO ABILITIES To overcome the lies I told myself about who my past said I was, I learned an exercise called "Lies into Abilities." List all the LIES you tell yourself about your shortcomings, your disadvantages, and why you're not good enough. Change those lies into empowering, "I AM" statements that are the truth about who you are becoming. You are your potential, not your past. The greatest question we can ask ourselves is: Who do I need to BE in order to DO what it takes, to HAVE what I want? Here are my affirmations. I call them THE TRUTH: I AM BOLD - I take action I AM STRONG - I get through challenges and lead others I AM KIND - even in stressful situations I AM DISCIPLINED - I keep promises to myself I AM TENACIOUS - I can do hard things I AM a DEVELOPER - I create opportunities, not wait for them I AM an ATTRACTOR of multi-million dollar deals I AM INSPIRING - I am authentic, I make a difference MY CHALLENGE TO YOU TODAY: Write your list of liabilities and turn them into positive, empowering affirmations about who you decide to be moving forward.
