What do we do with a story that is both sacred and unsettling?

This week’s Sunday Spark turns to the Passover and the strange tension at the heart of the story: a meal shared in community, a promise of deliverance, and a night marked by death.

The Passover meal was never meant to be solitary. Families shared with neighbors. The meal itself depended on community, hospitality, and the willingness to make room at the table for others.

But the story also refuses to become easy. Deliverance for Israel comes alongside suffering in Egypt, and this message does not rush past that tension. Instead, it invites us to wrestle with what the text says about God, judgment, freedom, sacrifice, and the ways we make meaning when life does not fit into clean answers.
