Note sull'episodio
If you think your prom was bad… hold my corsage.
School dances in the 1980s were basically psychological warfare wrapped in tulle and Aqua Net.
Freshman year, I turned down a Homecoming invitation because I was convinced an older boy was going tocall.
He didn't.
My mother then decided I had to turn down EVERYONE ELSE who asked.
Sophomore year, a harmless Homecoming date accidentally became a two-year relationship.
And junior prom?
Let's just say it involved an ex-boyfriend, jealousy, a pink hoop-skirt dress, my algebra teacher…
and one very unfortunate punch.
In this episode of Still Standing with Diane Six, I'm revisiting the hilarious—and occasionally horrifying—school dances of my youth and what they taught me decades later about rejection, relationships and the difference between being chosen and being valued.
Because maybe the real question isn't:
“Will they choose me?”
Maybe it's:
“Would I choose them?”
