Shalom friends! If you’ve seen #JewishLoreReactions, you may have noticed the character I appear as most often is Death. There’s a reason for that (other than personifications of Death are fascinating and cathartic to play.) In my life, I have been both mourner. But also I’ve served in a #chevrakadisha, a sacred community that comes together at the end of life to care for the deceased and comfort the living. These experiences have given me a profound appreciation for the beauty and power of Jewish end-of-life rituals and traditions, that I don’t think are talked about enough. So let’s talk about ‘em, with Sarit Wishnevski, Executive director of Kavod v'Nichum, an organization that empowers, educates, and trains Chevra Kadisha. Watch for an inside look at this always sacred, but never secret, society. #Judaism #jewishlearning #Mourning #Death #Grief #Shiva #Tahara https://kavodvnichum.org
