Suffering is one of the most honest and difficult realities the Bible addresses, and Exodus 4 and 5 bring that honesty into sharp focus. From personal grief and relational loss to the systemic oppression of an entire people, Scripture does not sugarcoat pain. It names it, describes it, and takes it seriously. When Moses faces confusion and despair, he does not simply try to make sense of things on his own. He turns to God with his questions, and God responds with a series of promises beginning with the words 'I will.' What makes Christianity unique is not that it explains away suffering, but that it shows us a God who enters into it fully, all the way to the cross. The empty tomb is His promise that He will bring His people through it as well.
