Surprising risk factors for hypertension. Anti-acid drugs increase risk by reducing production of nitro oxide.

Young People Lead New Wave of Americans Unaware of Their Hypertension | MedPage Today Results from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) cycles, spanning the years 2013 to 2023, showed a significant proportion of adults having hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol, continued to self-report being unaware and never diagnosed. Proton Pump Inhibitor Use and Incident Hypertension in Menopausal Women | Journal of the American Heart Association Journal of the American Heart Association June 2025. Prilosec/Omeprazole, Nexium, Prevacid, Protonix. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are the treatment of choice for conditions such as esophagitis and peptic ulcer disease, and they are among the most prescribed medications in the United States. In 2016, one of the PPIs was dispensed more than 70 million times in the United States. Inappropriate PPI use either due to prolonged use or lacking an appropriate indication has been linked with several adverse events such as bone fractures, pneumonia, and kidney damage, especially in older people. Also Osteoporosis, weakened immune systems, higher risk of gut infections and dysbiosis, protein deficiency and deficiencies of B12, iron, magnesium, and other minerals. Nitric oxide (NO) is a potent vasodilator that plays a critical role in blood pressure (BP) regulation.7 Recent studies have shown the importance of the nitrate–nitrite–NO pathway in the production of NO. The conversion of nitrite to NO in the stomach is dependent on the presence of gastric acid.8 PPIs are highly effective in suppressing gastric acid secretion and are hypothesized to affect NO production from nitrate/nitrites. Risk of Parkinson’s Disease doubles if you live near a golf course.

Risk of Neurologic Disorder Rises for People Who Live Near Golf Courses | MedPage Today Parkinson's Living within 1 mile of a golf course was associated with more than double the odds of developing Parkinson's disease compared with living more than 6 miles away, found researchers led by Brittany Krzyzanowski, PhD, of the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, reported in JAMA Network Open. May 2025. This was a study done in Minnesota involving 419 Parkinson's cases and 5,113 controls (median age was 72) from 1991 to 2015. They collected data from 139 golf courses and 224 water service areas. The odds of getting Parkinson's disease decreased by 9% for every 1-mile increase in distance from a golf course, up to 18 miles. This show aired Friday July 4th, 2025 on KDAR 98.3 FM.

More on Creatine and Dementia

Key risk factors for Alzheimer’s Disease are linked to cognitive function as early as ages 24–44, highlighting the need for early prevention in the US. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanam/article/PIIS2667-193X(25)00097-3/fulltext Creatine is a compound that comes from three amino acids. Creatine is found mostly in your body's muscles as well as in the brain. Most people get creatine through seafood and red meat — though at levels far below those found in synthetically made creatine supplements. The body's liver, pancreas and kidneys also can make about 1 gram of creatine per day. Your body stores creatine as phosphocreatine primarily in your muscles, where it's used for energy. As a result, people take creatine orally to improve athletic performance and increase muscle mass. People also use oral creatine to treat certain brain disorders, neuromuscular conditions, congestive heart failure and other conditions Proper hydration is crucial when using creatine to minimize the risk of dehydration and muscle cramps. https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements-creatine/art-20347591 This show aired Friday June 27th on KDAR 98.3 FM.

Benefits of Creatine. Reduce risk for Alzheimers

A growing collection of evidence supports that creatine supplementation may improve health as individuals age, by lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels, reducing fat accumulation in the liver, reducing homocysteine levels, serving as an antioxidant, enhancing glycemic control, slowing tumor growth in some types of cancers; increasing strength and/or muscle mass; minimizing bone loss; improving functional capacity in patients with fibromyalgia; positively influencing cognitive function; and in some instances, serving as an anti-depressant. The difference between regular medicine and functional medicine.

Modern Medicine is always your best option to save your life in a crisis. If you need hospitalization, have an acute infection and need antibiotics, have a major injury or other condition that requires surgery, modern medicine could save your life. But it also fails to help far too many people. People who have been to a dozen doctors or more and been told there's nothing wrong with them, and yet they're still suffering. Modern medicine does a very poor job of preventing and reversing chronic conditions like diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, hypothyroidism, sub-clinical anemia, and many other conditions involving nutrient deficiencies that impair your body's ability to heal itself. Functional medicine means using standard diagnostic tests to identify earlier signs of stress on your body so that you can heal yourself, so that you can reverse disease and not become dependent on pharmaceuticals or rather invasive medical treatments for the rest of your life.
