The Cost of Becoming
We spend a lot of time talking about what we need to gain to reach the next level—more sales, clients, team, revenue and opportunities.
But we don't talk nearly enough about what we may have to lose.
A recent conversation with a friend and colleague reminded me that growth isn't always additive. Sometimes it requires subtraction.
In this week's Sacred Cow, I'm talking about the messy middle of growth: outgrowing clients, team members, relationships, rooms—and even versions of ourselves that no longer fit where we're going.
Because as your standards, boundaries and vision change, everything can't necessarily come with you.
The Question
What are you trying to take into your next level that belongs to your current one?
The next level has a price of admission. And sometimes that price isn't money.
Sometimes it's being willing to let go.
