Juice WRLD died on December 8, 2019, after suffering a medical emergency at Chicago's Midway International Airport. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled his death an accident caused by toxic levels of oxycodone and codeine.

The medical emergency occurred shortly after his private jet landed in Chicago. During the encounter with law enforcement at the airport, he suffered a seizure and was treated on-site with Narcan. He was then transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois, where he was later pronounced dead.
