Rules of Happiness✨

Rules of Happiness💕 Happy are those whom you discipline, O LORD, and whom you teach out of your law. PSALM 94:12 NRSV Discipline is often followed by tears, so it seems surprising when the Bible associates discipline with happiness! While we may feel ashamed when the Lord convicts our heart of wrongdoing, we need to recognize that God's correction is ultimately for our good. He wants us to do what is right because he loves us. It is said that creating boundaries for children gives them contentment because they are clear about right and wrong. This is the way that God teaches us from his law. He doesn't want to enforce rules so that he can punish us when we fail; he wants us to know righteousness so that we can freely walk in it. Will you let him correct, guide, and instruct you in the way you should go? Be blessed as he continues a good work in you. Lord, thank you for guiding me into every good thing. Give me ears to hear and eyes to see the truth of your ways. Help me to learn from your instruction and to know your grace when I need correction. Let me experience the joy of your discipline.

Prayer about Renewal

DAY 9 A prayer about RENEWAL When I need a fresh start LORD, Your Word makes clear that you will restore any heart that seeks a new start. That's what I want! My desire is to turn to you and away from the sin that has been bringing me down, so please forgive my sin, Lord. I know that left unconfessed, it would poison everything I do. I'm thankful that your forgiveness is not dependent on the magnitude of my sin but on the magnitude of your love. The only sin that is too great for your unconditional love and forgiveness is an attitude of hostile rejection that would prevent someone from accepting your forgiveness. You wont force your love on anyone, but your compassion is available to all who seek it. May I never reject your love, Lord. Please soften my heart—mold it and prepare me for the renewal that only your Spirit can bring. Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God-truly righteous and holy. EPHBSIANS 4:22-24

A prayer about HEAVEN

A prayer about HEAVEN When I look forward to being with God forever LORD, You have planted within me a desire for more than just this life. I was created for something that is missing from this world, and I yearn for it. You made me in your image, with eternal value, so nothing but you, the eternal God, can truly satisfy this longing. Thank you for giving me glimpses-through nature, art, and relationships-of the perfect world that will be found only in heaven. I look forward with gladness to the day when you will restore the earth to the way it was when you first created it. I praise you because eternity will be a never-ending exploration of heaven's beauty and your character, and I will never tire of what you have prepared for me. (Jesus said,] "Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am." JOHN 14:1 - 3

Something New✨

Something New✨ "I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland" ISAIAH 43:19 NLT Whether you have generated a color-coded list of goals, dreams, and an execution plan for the next 365 days or you've banned resolutions and vowed to make this just another day on the calendar, the clean slate repre ed by the first day of a new year is filled with an unde air of expectation. The excitement of a new bauble gadget pales in comparison to the promise of a new beginning. Deep down inside, there is a part of us whic thinks, "This could be my year!" Guess what? It is your year. This day, and every one that follows, is yours. It is yours to choose who and how to love, to serve, and even to be. And the choice you made in reading this page represents the choice to take this journey in the company of your heavenly Father. That is beautiful place to start. Heavenly Father, I give you this year. I ask that you • • would help me keep you in the forefront of my mind as I make decisions and plans. I want to seek your advice in everything I set my hand to.

All things New

All Things New He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful." REVELATION 21:5 NKJV The most beautiful thing about the God we've entrusted our lives to is that he makes all things new. That is a faithful statement—it has always been true and will always be true. As we begin a new year, empty and full of both bright promise and worrisome unknown, we can rest our souls in the truth that our God will make everything new. Our regrets, mistakes, and failures are nothing compared to his covenanted promise of redemption and newness. Thank you, Jesus, that you make all things new. Thank you that your Word is faithful and true, and I don't have to doubt your promises. Bring newness to my life this year. Take my regrets and turn them into new beginnings.

Invisible

Invisible The LORD looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. PSALM 33:13-14 NLT Are you feeling invisible today? You may be surrounded by a crowd of people and yet feel alone and isolated. This may be how the woman who needed a healing touch from Jesus felt, but was convinced he would never notice her among so many. She reached out and touched him, and found him fully aware. Hagar, Sarah's servant, was driven from her home by her angry mistress. Wandering lost and alone in the wilderness, God saw her and became her deliverer. It's difficult to comprehend that as small and insignificant as we are in time and space, God sees each of us and even knows our name. Others may not seem to notice or understand, but God knows our whole story. He is always present, all-seeing, all-wise. No matter where we are, God sees. 1am so thankful, Lord, that you not only see me physically, but you see into my heart and mind and know my every thought. Help me always to remember that I am never invisible to you.

Who I That He is Mindful 🤔

Who am I that God is mindful of me? "What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?" Psalm 8:4 (NIV) When we think about who God is - His Splendor, His Sovereignty, His Power, His Strength - we can often wonder how He finds time to pursue us through His Love. Think about it. He set the heavens and earth in place - such magnificence. Yet, in the end He considered that you and I needed to exist. Our existence was not merely casual - God made us in His own Image. Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Genesis 1:26 (NIV) God didn't just stop at creation. He released His blessing upon us and entrusted us with dominion over the earth. Later, when Adam and Eve fell into sin, though kicked out of the Garden of Eden, He didn't abandon them. He still helped them increase in number through their children and generations that came after them. Countless times we see God constantly extending mercy and grace to us human beings even when we fall deeply. He still says, "You are mine" because He desires that none of us should perish. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) Father, thank you for your love, patience, and constant pursuit of me. Since creation, you have shown me that you are concerned for my well-being and eternal destiny. Thank you for thinking of me, even when I don't deserve it. Help me to walk in your image and always please you. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Awake Again

Awake Again So you're awake. Again. The clock says a number it has no business saying, the house is quiet, and your mind is the only thing in the neighbourhood still running at full speed. You're not alone in this hour, and not just because millions of others are lying awake somewhere too. David wrote Psalm 4 at night. It ends with him lying down, and what got him there wasn't a technique. It was a Person: You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Notice he says alone. David had guards, walls, and weapons, and he'd learned that none of them could actually produce the thing he needed at night, which was safety deep enough to close his eyes inside of. Only God made him dwell in safety. Everything else just stood watch. That's really the question 3AM keeps asking, underneath all the specific worries: who's actually keeping you safe? If the answer is me, then of course you can't sleep. The night shift never ends when you're the only one on it. This week, one short reading a night, you're going to meet the God who takes that shift. Nothing to fix tonight. Nothing to solve. Just this: someone stronger than you is awake, and He's not worried. Put the phone down after the prayer. Lie back. Start there. REFLECTION What is the worry that most reliably takes the night shift? Who has actually been assigned to keep you safe at night, and how is that going? PRAYER Lord, it's late and the mind won't stop. David said You alone make him dwell in safety, so this is the handover: the watch is Yours tonight. Nothing needs solving before morning. Grant sleep, or at least peace, whichever comes first. Amen.

Jesus Saves✨God Saves

Jesus Christ saves -God Saves He saved humanity from the earth-ending flood when He instructed Noah to build a boat (Gen. 6). He saved Isaac from becoming a sacrifice by providing a ram (Gen.22 He saved Lot when the sins of Sodom earned judgment (Gen. 19). He saved Jacob's family when Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt (Gen. 37:25). He saved Jacob's descendants from Egyptian slavery as Moses led them across the Red Sea (Ex. 14). The list could go on and on. And David knew it. But there was more to God's salvation. More than just salvation in the past, more than just salvation in David's life. There was a future salvation that David could sense, though he didn't know all the details. "Our God is the God of salvation; and to God the Lord belong escapes from death" (Ps. 68:20). STUDY THE BOOK Psalm 68:1-35 This statement points directly to Jesus Christ. Through Him, we are saved from our slavery to sin from our slavery to sin, we are saved from ourselves, and we are saved from death. We are saved for His glory, for His service, and so we can share Him with others. Subsequent verses portray the celebration of salvation: "They have seen Your pro-cession, O God, the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary" (v. 24). From the instruments to the dancers, there is a giant party celebrating the salvation of the Lord. Praise Him! MORE INSIGHT The last few verses of this psalm rejoice at the coming reign of Jesus Christ, the ultimate Savior King. Hiding Sin Hurts

Hiding sin hurts Does your mouth get you into trouble? The tongue is dangerous and prone toward venom, and controlling it is one of the most difficult of our assignments as God's people (James 3:1-12). One way to control the tongue is to hold back words that are cruel, conde-scending, or critical. But there is definitely a time when we need to open our mouths: in confession. Psalm 32 is a psalm of confession. David shares his firsthand account as one who is blessed when his "transgression is forgiven"(V)1 David had tried to keep something from God only to report "my bones grew Old through my groaning... Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer" (vV. 3, 4). Like David, we shrivel and weaken when we keep our sin inside. But when we acknowledge our sin to God and ourselves, He forgives (v. 5). You'll see the word Selah at the end of verse 5. It is a musical directive that means to briefly stop, to pause and calmly think about what was said. STUDY THE BOOK Psalm 32:1-11 We confess, He forgives. We don't confess, we suffer. It's not that God's on our back. It's that the very nature of wrongdoing works against our nature as people created in God's image. We are made to do rightly and love specifically. When we don't we dry up. Which brings us back to the opening verse and pushes us onward to verses 6-11: We are blessed when we push away selfish and sinful actions. We sing when we carry out the caring and productive actions we are designed to do. We enjoy understanding when we listen to God's instructions. And joyful mercy surrounds us when we choose uprightness. MORE INSIGHT The word for blessed simply means "happy." It's the same word used in Psalm 1:1 and in the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:1-12. previous: Psalm 23:1-6 next: Psalm 34:1-22
