Note sull'episodio
Join Joe McDonald as he reads from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, diving deep into the transformative principles of Step 3 AA. Reflecting on the nature of selflessness and the illusion of control, Joe emphasizes the importance of focusing on others’ needs to truly find satisfaction and happiness.
Joe explains, “No, it was a transactional act of kindness. It may well be kind, but it was transactional. So it was not selfless. Does that make sense? And since we’ve determined self’s sort of the problem, I need to think less of self. Focus on what you need, and then in my meeting your needs, my needs are met. My old ideas are exposed. They can be examined. They can be let go. Yes. Okay, is he not a victim of the delusion that he can wrest satisfaction and happiness out of this world if only he manages well?”
Joe’s discussion sheds light on the critical shift from self-centeredness to genuine selflessness, a key component in the journey of recovery. This session underscores the necessity of letting go of the illusion of control and embracing a life of service and humility.
