FREE ME FROM ENVY
When Someone Else Receives What I Prayed For
What happens inside your heart when someone else receives the very thing you have been praying for?
You smile. You congratulate them. You say, “I’m so happy for you.”
And maybe you truly are.
But somewhere underneath the celebration, something hurts.
Their testimony touches your unanswered prayer. Their open door reminds you of the door you are still waiting to see open. Their progress makes you look at your own timeline and quietly ask:
“God… what about me?”
FREE ME FROM ENVY is an honest music prayer about one of the struggles we rarely admit before others: comparison and envy.
Not always the obvious kind.
Sometimes it is the envy that hides behind a smile—the kind that congratulates publicly but compares privately.
This prayer brings that uncomfortable truth into God’s presence:
“Jesus… forgive me for the moments when I could celebrate people until they passed me.”
Someone else’s blessing is not your rejection.
Their marriage is not your rejection. Their promotion is not your demotion. Their open door does not mean God closed yours. Their healing does not mean God ignored your tears. Their testimony does not mean God loves them more than you.
There is enough grace in God for their story and yours.
This prayer is not about pretending that waiting doesn’t hurt. It is about refusing to allow someone else’s answered prayer to become evidence that God has forgotten you.
“God… teach me to stop measuring Your faithfulness to me by what You are doing for somebody else.”
You don’t have to watch everybody else’s clock.
You don’t have to compete.
You don’t have to become smaller because someone else is shining.
God is still writing your story.
And while you wait, there is a beautiful prayer you can learn to pray:
“Jesus… when their testimony touches the place where I am still waiting, don’t let envy speak. Remind me that You are still God in my waiting too. And until my turn comes… teach me how to celebrate theirs.”
