212. Genesis 46-47 - Joseph Enslaves the Egyptians

Sam and Will discuss how Joseph receives his family. As Joseph pours out tremendous blessings upon his father and brothers, he also enriches Pharaoh and enslaves the Egyptian people. Ironically, an Israelite will enslave the Egyptians long before an Egyptian enslaves the Israelites.

211. Genesis 45-46 - Identity Revealed & Family Healed

Sam and Will discuss the incredible forgiveness offered by Joseph to his brothers. As Joseph reveals his identity, he showers his brothers with comfort and blessing. This beautiful story is foreshadowing the incredible forgiveness and the inheritance we have received from Jesus.

210. Genesis 43-44 - Judah Becomes Like Jesus

Sam and Will discuss the brilliant strategy of Joseph to reveal the hearts of his brothers, and Judah proves that he has become a transformed man. Decades earlier, Judah conspired to sell Joseph into slavery for silver. Now Judah is willing to lay down his own life for the sake of his younger brother.

209. Genesis 42-43 - Joseph Tests His Brothers

In this episode, Sam and Will discuss the brilliant strategy that was employed by Joseph to test the hearts of his brothers. As his brothers retrace the sufferings of Joseph, they are convinced that the Lord is judging them. However, God is ordaining all these events to radically transform Jacob and his sons.

In this week's episode, Sam and Will discuss Joseph's ascension from the dungeon to become the Vizier of Egypt. In interpreting Pharaoh's dreams, Joseph is not only exalted to previously unimaginable heights but he is positioned to save the world from famine.

Sam and WIll discuss the injustices suffered by Joseph and his incredibly faithful response to this suffering. He's been betrayed, enslaved, falsely accused, imprisoned, and forgotten. Yet by placing his hope in God's promise to exalt him, Joseph was able to remain faithful through tragic injustices.

Sam and Will discuss the goodness of God and the scandalous union of Judah and Tamar. As God weaves together the life stories of those who will ultimately be in the Messianic line, we discover that NO ONE is beyond redemption. Our God loves to redeem the most notorious outcasts and the most neglected underdogs.

Sam and Will discuss how the sufferings of Joseph were ordained to foreshadow the sufferings of Christ. How does God expect us to gain both wisdom and comfort through the study of the unjust sufferings of His servant?

204. Genesis 34-35 - Jacob's Darkest Chapter (Failed Father)

Sam and Will discuss one of the more disturbing chapters of Genesis. In perhaps the lowest point of Jacob's life, he failed to trust the Lord or to lead & protect his family. The results were tragic! However, in the middle of all the pain and injustice, God remained faithful to Jacob. Ultimately, we are reminded that Jesus is the ultimate standard of both justice and mercy.

203. Genesis 32-33 - Jacob Wrestles God and Prevails!

Sam and Will discuss Jacob's return to the Promised Land. After two decades with Laban, Jacob is now returning to his homeland and must face a brother who wanted to kill him. Along the way, the Lord wrestles Jacob and leads him to recognize that the pathway to blessing does not come through scheming. It comes through surrender.
